I visited the Hackers exhibition today, and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The Horse Hospital has very clear accessibility information on their website which enabled me to plan my trip. The available alternative literature booklets have a good mix of topics, anyone who has been 'othered' will find something that speaks to them. Mr Roger Burton kindly signed a copy of his book, Rebel Threads, and was incredibly welcoming. Whilst I was too shy to tell him what an influence the wardrobe from Hackers had been on me, as a very young child seeing all the weird and wonderful granted an innate acceptance of the otherness I felt. So, thank you. Places like The Horse Hospital, which feature and support what the mainstream cannot or will not, are so vital to our society as places of acceptance.
