There is no denying that this food is seriously overpriced. However there is one dish that I particularly like there and that is the Bean Curd Seafood Hot Pot. It's absolutely delicious even though they use a lot of tofu to fill in the space and use fish balls instead of fresh fish. But it still tastes nice, so I used to go there and order that dish even though I personally find the staff to be cold and useless and certainly undeserving of the service charge. Once I went for for a take-away instead of a dine in since I was in a hurry to get home. There were two of their staff people at the entrance. One of them greeted me with a big yawn. The other one went inside and then came back to take my order. There was no smile no hello and he seemed to be in a hurry. I later found out the staff was about to eat. When he learnt I was here for a take-away (and hence no service charge could be snatched from me), he shoved the menu in my hands and proceeded to tap on the touchscreen cashier machine. He was not paying attention to me at all. I knew the name of the dish I wanted by heart. Not only have I eaten Chinese food all my life (I am not Chinese myself) and in different countries including China, I used to go to China City every week to order the same dish. However, I opened the menu and pointed at exactly what I wanted as I usually do in restaurants to make sure they get my order right. The waiter was not paying any attention to me and simply confirmed "seafood hotpot" and snatched my debit card out of my hands and put it in the card machine. I was very annoyed at this inconsiderate behaviour however i knew what to expect at this restaurant and I never complained since I really was there for the Bean Curd seafood Hotpot. I also requested chilli oil and some sauce which they erroneously call "fish sauce" (more like sweet chilli sauce) and was told I could not have two portions of the "fish sauce" because the rest was for the staff. I was rather annoyed since, on that day, I was ordering two portions of hotpot. Again, I said nothing, I couldn't wait to get my food and get out of there. The food came and it was the wrong order. Some noodle soup was packed for me instead. I notified the waiter who proceeded to be rude and tell me I told him the wrong dish. That was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. He started to argue with me and tell me I don't know what I am talking about. I insisted I come here every week and order the same thing. I don't even like noodles. He even claimed that I said "seafood hotpot" so that means noodles hotpot which makes no sense. Surely if I had said seafood hotpot and if indeed he was confused, he would have asked me whether I meant bean curd hotpot or noodles hotpot. In any case, as I said, I did point at the right dish on the menu. I know exactly where it is and it is not my fault he was not paying attention. He never apologised and I could hear him swearing angrily in Chinese (yes i understand some words) all the way to the kitchen. So I had to wait some more to get the right order at which point, he told me to wait downstairs near the door because I cannot stay inside if I am not eating in. In the end I got my bean curd but they lost a loyal customer forever. If you still want to go there, do try the Seafood Bean Curd Hotpot, it's rather nice. Otherwise, AVOID AT ALL COSTS DUE TO RUDE AND IDIOTIC STAFF AND...
Read moreOn the 7th of August I went to have a dinner business dinner with some Colleagues, and had to express my wonderful experience at this wonderful spot. The food and service is amazing plus atmosphere is excellent(as lots of business is difficult to gind staff in the sector due to Covid-19). This restaurant is located in one of the most known areas in the UK call Russell Square. I have to admit that evening the restaurant looked pretty busy. Im a foodie person and nothing best that a place where you feel welcoming and confie. Definitely recommended either if you go for a gathering with friends, family member or as i did, business meal, even as a tourist. Find attached some amazing pictures from the place. Definitely coming back!!!! Also thanks to the wonderful Chef for even coming to us to ask if we were enjoying the food, my opinion that everythingis was, is marvellous and felt welcoming ,fed and the way I will treat my guest/customers in hospitality industry. Read moreI went here with one of my friends during lunchtime but since it was quite a late lunch it was very busy at all. The restaurant is very spacious and has a lot of seating space. The decor is quite minimal but modern and clean.
They had a lunchtime offer which included a starter and main course at a very reasonable price. I chose the dim sum as a starter and was a bit disappointed to get only two relatively small ones. I suppose for that price you can't expect much more. Personally, I didn't particularly liked the dim sum, even-though I'm usually a big fan. As a main I had a meat based dish, which tasted quite nice, but the amount of meat in it was quite disappointing. The portion overall was quite generous though and filled me up.
The one waiter who was present wasn't very attentive and we had to call him to order the food, drinks and to get the bill. Not once did he come to our table to check on us.
This restaurant is ok for a quick, cheap lunch, however, I wouldn't chose to go here for a nice...
