Visited recently with a friend and had a nice relaxing time.
The Peacock is tastefully decorated and has a nice welcoming vibe. The staff are all friendly, polite, and professional.
The menu is extensive and there is much to be tempted by. The food is good, tasty, high quality, and well presented.
Chorizo & Applewood chedder croquettes = delicious, moorish, just wish they would offer four instead of three as these are perfect for sharing.
Sirloin Steak = Excellent. melt in the mouth. Very high quality. Cooked perfectly. Nice to have the peppercorn sauce served as standard and not offered as an additional charge (which is annoying when restaurants do that)
Butternut Squash & Spinach Tagliatelle = Very nice dish. Plentiful.
Chocolate Brownie = Fantastic. Very rich. Definitely one for the sweet toothed out there
Apple & Berry crumble, vanilla custard = Unfortunately this is where the meal failed. My friend was looking forward to this, however it was not served with custard and came with a large portion of clotted cream (which was not mentioned) and a scoop of ice cream (which was offered although my friend did find it odd that this dish was being served with the extra ice cream). When the dish arrived without the custard we did enquire as to why it was missing and why cream was added, the waiter spoke to the chef and it transpired that there was a miscommunication and apparently there was no custard to offer and the cream and ice cream was the replacement. My friend pointed out that she would not have ordered the dish if she had been told, but she decided to try it anyway.....unfortunately without the custard the dessert was too dry and not appetising....plus parts of the apple crumble were stone cold or tepid - which was odd as the small griddle dish was hot.....clearly something had gone very wrong with the dish! At this point we told the manager to remove the dessert from the final bill (which they were happy to do). The staff were very apologetic and offered to replace the dessert but my friend was happy to eat the scoop of ice cream.
Perhaps the best thing to do was for this dessert to be removed from the menu temporarily as warm custard forms a key part of the dish that a large portion of cold clotted cream and ice cream simply can't replace.
Despite the disappointing crumble this did not detract from the overall experience and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and will definitely return as the menu is great and the venue is an enjoyable...
Read moreWe were 4 adults looking forward to experiencing the modern pub and booked lunch on Friday . We had a warm welcome from Angel who served us throughout our time in the pub .It was pretty empty and stayed that way throughout the afternoon , so was lacking in ambience, but we did not mind as we made our own . We ordered drinks and wine plus starters and main courses from the menu, which were nicely served by Angel. We were disappointed by the starters ,which were small plates and expensive for the portion - that said two were tasty ( hallomi and korean chicken ) but the calarmari was lack luster and cold ! For the main courses, our wives had the fish and chips and both agreed that it was fresh tasting , but it was no better than any standard pub offering .My friend had the salmon which was fine but a small portion for the price , and I had the slow cooked steak and guiness pie with mashed potatoes - the pie was very small and dry ( hard pastry and no hint of guiness ) but the onion gravy was full flavour to go with the mash which was smooth. Overall, the food disappointed and would have been expensive for what we got, if we did not have a 50% discount deal. The service was great, well done Angel- but the ambience was non existant and the two managers did not help as they chatted noisily to each other for most of the lunch, and made no effort to interact or show any interest in taking feedback from us. This was surprising as the pub has not been open long and has lots of competition in the high street and surrounds. Would we go back? -...
Read moreEntrance - Very easy to find, just by Angel station. The outside decor and sign is very beautiful and eye catching, we were gonna go somewhere else but decided to go here instead without even stepping inside so that’s always a good thing.
Food - My partner ordered fish and chips and I ordered fried halloumi and a smash burger with fries. We both really enjoyed our meals especially the halloumi, it was cooked to perfection and the wait wasn’t long at all.
Drinks - We both ordered 2 large glasses of coke with a slice of lemon and partner ordered a bottle of Sol beer. Probably because we hadn’t had a fizzy drink in a long time but there was something about the coke that just tasted like it had been delivered from the Angels in heaven themselves. It was so fresh and fizzy, not flat and just perfect.
Decor - Very modern, beautiful, aesthetically pleasing and unique. Not like your average looking pub, it’s as if it was the Fairy Pub Mother compared to all the other pubs in the area.
Atmosphere - Very nice, calming, just perfect!
Cleanliness - VERY clean, not a spec of dirt. Not even in the toilets. It looked and smelt clean. No issues there.
Total cost - £59 for 2 meals, a starter, 3 drinks and a service charge.
Customer service - I wish I asked for names but when I say, the staff were absolutely lovely. From the moment I walked in I was made to feel welcome, comfortable and valued. Every single member of staff including the chefs were amazing.
Overall - 10/10, very lovely modern pub, I would 100% return.
Thank you The...
