Me and my friend do not live in London, so when the chance arrived to visit Richmond as part of a weekend get away arose. We knew we had to visit The Princes Head. If you haven’t guessed, yes we are Ted Lasso fans. Our trip to this pub was amazing. At first we were amazed by a group of blokes dressed as ted lasso that honestly had us questioning our mental states as we both thought we were hallucinating. (Not related to the pub but honestly it was incredible and we no longer felt like the weirdest people in the area -no offence if one of the lassos is reading this, it was amazing!). Upon entry to the pub the staff were INCREDIBLY friendly and we were seated at our table very quickly. I feel the need to stress the importance of bookings as the place was packed. We ordered our food and drinks very easily as (again) the servers were wonderful. Drinks came out almost instantly and there was a very short wait for our food. The food was amazing. My friend ordered the fish and chips while I got the shepherds pie. We’re both students. We don’t eat well. But oh my god, I felt the months of poor dietary choices leaving my body. The food was amazing. I cannot stress how good the Shepard’s pie was. This place made me appreciate cabbage! We actually forgot we were there to nerd out about Ted Lasso and instead fangirled over our food. 10/10 will go there again one day. To the ted lasso fans; just go. The town is wonderful and the pub is amazing. To the none ted lasso fans; it’s a wonderful pub/restaurant with very a shrine to a football club that doesn’t exist.

As a fan of Ted Lasso, the place is really nice! Aesthetically pleasing, for sure. The staff in the front were kind and patient. However, the staff from the back brought our food and silverware and set it on the table before even cleaning it. I know it’s busy, but as a former server, it’s never done that way, no matter how busy it gets. Maybe it’s just the customer service offered in London? Which by the way, the atmosphere for a hispanic/brown looking person wasn’t the great either. Staff were cool but other customers; they were even talking about “americans” in a very hateful way. This has nothing to do with the restaurant but it’s a heads up for those POC who decide to come here :) The food was mediocre, but that’s just how all London food has been to be honest. The beer was just fine, but not as I expected it to be. It wasn’t expensive either. Overall, if you come here just for the Ted Lasso, experience, you should! Just know what you’re coming for.

VERY RUDE BARTENDER! This is my first restaurant/Bar review, and unfortunately, it's for a negative experience. I've lived in Richmond for 7 years and occasionally visit The Prince's Head for drinks. Today, I went with a friend who brought a congratulatory gift for my newborn - a pair of baby shoes and a jar of honey. We ordered drinks and sat down. My friend insisted that I try a simple of the honey, and he politely requested a small spoon from the bartender(Maybe Manager), a man with a beard. Unfortunately, the Manager/bartender's response was quite aggressive. He loudly shouted, "What are you trying to eat in my bar?!" attracting everyone's attention. I calmly explained that we weren't bringing food in, and that my friend want me to try a small simple of the honey (No one eats honey with a spoon while drinking after all). He responded, still loudly, "Why didn't you say that then?" He eventually brought a small spoon but continued to shout about people trying to bring outside food and screamed " Don't bring in food in my bar?!". He even assumed that the trainer box in my friend's bag was a food bag without even asking to see what's insides. (Please check the photo I attach of the bag). The entire situation became uncomfortable, with everyone staring at us as he kips grunting . We couldn't relax and enjoy our drinks, so we decided to leave and politely requested a refund as we couldn't even start drinking. If trying a gift simple is against the bar policies, There's no need for such an aggressive approach. A calm explanation would have been much more professional. The bartender's behavior ruined what could have been a pleasant visit.

Sorry to say the pub and the food are horrible. For a couple years I always knew the next time I come to London, I’d drop over to Richmond and see the Ted Lasso sights. It was very cool to see things outside, but when we went into the pub, and asked to sit at the “memorabilia table”, that’s where things went bad. Partly not entirely their fault I guess because it was record heat in London today, about 90 degrees F, but there is no a/c and not even any fans blowing. It had to be around 82 inside and stagnant. The memorabilia table was in a corner in back of the pub, next to the ladies toilet door. They had the toilet door propped open and it stunk horribly at the table. The food was not very good at all. The experience inside almost soured everything else but we just hurried and ate and got out of there to continue our trip. Save yourself, drop in for pics, but go eat somewhere else.

The fact that this pub has become a major tourist attraction, due to its part in the Ted Lasso show, should not deflect from the fact that they still offer a welcoming and authentic experience which anyone would enjoy. The highlight for me were the exceptional staff, who were genuinely helpful and polite. The pub offers an extensive range of great beers such as Camden Hell's, Neck Oil and of course Guinness. The food menu has many classic British dishes such as fish and chips, steak and ale pies, gammon steak and venison faggots. There are a few nods to Ted Lasso with the Richmond FC scarf behind the bar but it's more of an authentic British pub than a Lasso theme park, which is commendable. The pub does get busy due to its connection with the tv show, but overall, this would be a great place to visit regardless of its popularity and is highly recommended.

Helpful tip: if you’re coming for Ted Lasso be sure to reserve a table ahead of time to eat in the “restaurant area” instead of the “pub area”. If you don’t reserve but want to sit in the restaurant area, be sure to get there as soon as they open! Such a great experience, especially for the Ted Lasso fans! The food was good and the service was super friendly and helpful! Definitely walk around the Richmond area and walk by the river. There’s a bakery around the corner from this pub that sells the biscuits in pink boxes that Ted makes, definitely give them a try! Menu attached, a little expensive that I expected but the food was good. No vegetarian options other than getting a bunch of sides, but the sweet potato fries were SO GOOD!!
