Visited this pub on a busy Saturday evening. Waited over 15 minutes at the bar to order my drink before two people were promptly served after waiting no more than a minute by a member of staff called Jay who not only seemed to be friends with these people but also leaned over the bar with his card to pay for their drinks. I had to wait a further 5 minutes to be served whereby I was told that they were not taking food orders due to a backlog in the kits. I asked if I could still place my order and explained that I didn't mind waiting at my table however I was told that I couldn't place my order then and that I would have to queue up again later to re-attempt to order my food. I then ordered it on the app and when it came, the chicken was dry and rubbery as if it had been cooked in a microwave.
Further to this, I went to use the toilet and used a cubicle which I locked whilst I was going to the toilet. Whilst conducting my business my door was kicked in by the security guard who then looks at me before walking away, this left me exposed to the female manager, Hollie who had entered the male toilet block and left me feeling embarrassed, shocked and degraded. At this point no apology offered or any justification for this.
We soon left the pub and took our bottles of drink which we had purchased with us as we intended to drink them on the way back home. We got about 10 yards from the pub when we were chased by the same security guard who grabbed us and demanded that we came back into the pub to finish our drinks before threatening to break my friends nose, I was fearing for my safety due to his aggression so handed the drink over to prevent me for being assaulted. I asked the security guard for his name or security industry authority card number, to which he replied "f* off". I now know him to be called Prince.
I brought these matters to the attention of Hollie, the duty manager who accepted that he was out of order however said that there is nothing she can do as he is not employed directly by Wetherspoons. When I questioned her why he kicked the toilet door she said that she wrongly thought somebody was doing drugs in there and that he kicked the door because he wanted to catch the person in the act. She acknowledged the fact that it was unnecessary and was unacceptable behaviour and apologised on his behalf as well as telling me that he's always like that.
Definitely the worst pub in Bromley and not one to go to if you want a quiet drink, a nice meal or for anyone who doesn't want a broken nose! The staff there are ignorant, rude and the security guards are thugs who's behaviour I would describe as nothing...
Read moreWent to this pub like we've done many times before with some work people 25/06/21. We were polite and friendly to all staff throughout the night and ordered food and drinks and were there a few hours. One of our group ordered 8 shots. When the barman turned up, he only had 4, so we informed him that we had ordered 8, showed the receipt on the phone and he said that he would sort it out and be back. The next thing we know, one of the bouncers comes over to us and tells us that we're not going to be served anymore because we were "being too loud". We looked at each other dumbfounded and thought it must be some sort of joke. We'd not been louder than anyone else in the pub and not once been approached by any staff member to warn us of any loudness. We told the doorman this and he said he was only telling us what he'd been told. We asked to speak to the person who had told him this as there must be a mistake. He got a "bar manager" who told us the same thing. We expressed our confusion and all she said was that once the bar staff say they're not going to serve anyone they have to back them. We said that's absolutely fair enough, but we'd not had any problems with any staff. She just kept repeating herself like a parrot. We were not too drunk at all and were able to hold a normal conversation. One member of our group was completely sober and she wouldn't even listen to them. We decided to leave and not give them any more of our money and asked for a refund on the shots. Upon leaving, the sober member of the group saw the doorman that let us in and voiced all of our confusion and frustration and asked if he knew anything about the situation. He said that he had had reports of a table in the corner who had been loud and called a team leader an ar$ehole. Well this was news to us. We were told we were just being thrown out for being loud. This didn't make sense. We tried to reason with the doorman but he too caught parrot disease. I asked what tables it was as "the corner" is not that exact. He said it was tables X and Y (can't remember the numbers) but they definitely wasn't the table we were sitting on which was 7. He said something like 68 and similar. Obviously a case of mistaken identity happened, but no one in that team that night had an ounce of managerial or customer savvy and we were still asked to leave. Ridiculous. Tried to give this feedback via the proper contact channel on Wetherspoons website but it doesn't allow you to select a date further on from January 2021...good user testing. Many fails here...
Read moreI had the pleasure of meeting my family at this pub yesterday 19/06/21. At first it was as expected a normal pub in the pandemic. We ordered from our table the requisite beers and coffees and eventually they arrived after 15 minutes. The pub was not particularly busy. However this set the tone of the evening. We ordered drinks again and again the beers were very slow it arrive. Then we ordered food and because of serious draught from an open door we asked if we could be relocated within the pub. This was arranged and we moved to our new table. and all meals and some drinks arrived slowly but within an acceptable period .
54 mins later after contacting 6 members of staff our missing drinks finally arrived. But during our contact with staff and a manager, a "team Leader" suggested that my brother was being "stroppy" because of his complaining. I consider that abusing a Customer who paid for their drinks but had not received after them after almost an hour is unacceptable. My Brother was a senior manager for a major drinks group and well understands the problems and issues of a Pub. The delay in getting our drinks was unacceptable.Abusing Customers is also not acceptable.
It should be noted every pint delivered to our table was well under the legal pint. Not slightly short but very short even the head was way below the rim of the glass. This was clearly being to reduce spillage on the table service tray that staff were using. Short measure of a beer is theft. We did ask several times for the beers to be corrected and this was then done. We should not have to ask. This matter will passed to Bromley Council.
These delays and failures are clearly due too a poorly lead team who clearly lack some serious training.
So good food is served within acceptable time. But don't go if you wish to drink as the wait maybe a rather long time and your served pint will be somewhat less than...
