. The Sheephaven Bay 📍2 Mornington St, London NW1 7QD 🚇 Mornington Crescent 🍺 £5.80 Guinness
The Sheephaven Bay is located in a quiet backstreet at the southern end of Camden Town. The nearest Tube is Mornington Crescent which is just around the corner.
This pub was originally called The Mornington Arms and built in the mid 19th century. In 2008 the pub was renamed The Sheephaven Bay after a picturesque area of Donegal, Ireland.
This is a deceptively large Irish boozer that has a warm traditional feel. At the front of the pub are two entrances that lead to two separate serveries. Around the walls are a multitude of Guinness signs, Irish memorabilia and plenty of screens for watching sports. Across the ceiling are Irish flags and GAA shirts. At rear of the pub is partially covered cosy beer garden.
The beer selection will please the masses and included two cask ales. As this was a pub of the Irish persuasion, I thought I would try the Guinness. My pint was excellent, so much so I stayed for a few more, price point was less than six quid. There is a classic pub grub menu which includes a full Irish breakfast and Irish stew, most meals cost around £12.
We arrived around 12pm on St Patrick’s Day, the pub was already busy with a good crowd in attendance. The atmosphere was fantastic, there is warm and welcoming local pub feel here. The TV’s were on mute showing live footy and horse racing whilst Zombie by The Cranberries played in the background, perfect!
Around London there are some amazing Top Tier Irish boozers, @thesheephavenbay definitely fits into that category. Next time you’re in Camden Town, take a little detour off the High Street and stop by this must visit London Pub, Sláinte. ☘️

Read moreI have been waiting along time to visit the Sheephaven Bay after seeing the outstanding reviews that the @guinnessguru left. Although the bar is in the Borough of Camden it takes about 5-10 mins to get to the bar from Camden Town Underground Station, and lets be honest Camden is a very interesting place to go for a walk particularly if the weather is good as it was for me. It would be very easy to walk right past the sheephaven as unlike the other pubs and bars there are not large groups all over the pavement outside swigging pints of the black stuff.
So lets get to it.... The pub is massive, lots of tables with a few rooms of the main bar and a very generous beer garden. Lots of Irish and football memorabilia over the walls and ceilings which brings a good touch of character. Now the Guinness @guinness I will be honest and say that this is without doubt the best pint of Guinness that I have tried in all of London, although the barman was honest and said that he serves the second best pint (the first being the Auld Shillelagh @Auld Shillelagh(I will be visiting/reviewing this bar in early June)) The pint itself was very well presented in an old style glass with a good dome. It was not Guinness Extra Cold and served to me at what I consider the perfect temperature. The Pint was deliciously creamy and was so nice I had another; in all honestly I could have stayed there all night.
I would visit the SheepHaven Bay in a heart beat and strongly suggest that you (any true Guinness lover) does the same too. Five stars is...
