We arrived at the venue, my friend had booked a booth for her birthday but they had no record of the booking and had to kick some people out of the seats so that we could sit down. The area we got was then not big enough for everyone who was coming, also it was quite open to the rest of the bar so random people kept coming to put their coats on the seats etc.
We were given complementary "shots" for this trouble, half of which tasted like ribena, the other half were a vodka/juice combination.
We then ordered drinks, half an hour later they still hadn't arrived, I went to the bar and asked where they were and was asked "what did you order again?" - eventually after going back to the bar 2 more times our drinks were made (about 45 minutes after we ordered them).
The bar was understaffed, 2 people were struggling to make cocktails for maybe about 5-6 different big group tables. Some staff members were seemingly doing nothing, I saw one guy just throwing ice around and that's all he really seemed to do. Poorly managed bar generally, a woman was walking around trying to work out which table had ordered which drinks as they didn't seem to record that. And all the drinks had so, so much ice in them, you barely got a drink at all. No wonder ice man was so busy.
A man came up to the bar and said he needed to charge his phone and had lost the people he came out with. The staff refused to let him charge his phone as this was a "rule". Thankfully he found another group of people who had a portable phone charger.
The music - oh the music... in the early evening they had some kind of dance music on, between every few tracks they had a Spotify music ad, so I guess they didn't want to pay for premium...
Two good points alone - they did turn the air conditioning on when we asked them if they could, and the pizza was nice (although I waited at the bar for ages to order it, before being told that I couldn't order it at the bar).
A DJ came in later, he was okay but a bit rude. I asked him if he could play something for my friend's birthday and he literally had "No Requests" tattooed. If you're getting paid to entertain a group of people in that kind of venue, where most people are obviously there for a birthday/other celebration, it is unreasonable not to take requests. You're not at bloody Glastonbury, you're not above taking requests, don't flatter yourself. I thought it was a really terrible attitude.
All in all, wouldn't go back, would not recommend.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that the pizza was actually from the takeaway next door. Oh, and there's a £15 minimum card charge for...
Read moreThe security staff at this place are nasty pieces of work. One told me to go to the smoking area and have some water then i would be allowed back in, thats fine, i did that. My friend followed us out and they said no alcoholic drinks outside so she left it with them, then as we went to go back in they stopped us and told us we werent allowed back in because we were drunk (thats the whole point of a bar). Then started being nasty and saying that she was trying to sneak me in? My friend asked for her drink then and they refused, she pointed out that she had just paid £20 for it, they started to get really nasty at this point, physically manhandling us out of the smoking area, telling us they were going to call the police on us and lying to us to try and get us to leave. All my friend wanted was her drink or her money back, but they turned really nasty, threatened to get us done by the police for drunk and disorderly! Neither of us were shouting, it only became a scene when they started threatening and manhandling us. I am absolutely disgusted by the staff here, kicking two vulnerable young women out on to the street, taking our money, and threatening us. Never go here, management should be ashamed, and need those security...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame in with a group of friends. My boyfriend was on a crutch, three metal plates in his leg because of an accident in which he was robbed. He couldnāt walk for three months because of his leg, this is his third night out in the past 4 months. He was using one singular crutch to walk and support himself. They wouldnāt let him in because of it, saying that itās a āsafety hazardā. I understand why that is, but when I tried to explain his situation to the manager, saying that he couldnāt walk without it (which he canāt), security and the general manager for the night wouldnāt even listen to me. My boyfriend couldnāt stand for the entire night, couldnāt dance with us or do anything, because he had no physical support. We tried to explain this to security, but all they said was āone of you can support him throughout the nightā. I understand security hazards, I am a manger of a night club myself, but a bigger one in Soho. This was simply ridiculous. They attempted to not let him in because he wanted his crutch, which allows him to walk. Thatās genuinely just ridiculous. Get better management, because clubs and bars in Soho have allowed him in the way he is, and understood completely. Honestly awful and not...
