First the positives, the location is good and Ray the barman and the manager from New Zealand are both very nice and very professional. As for a lot of the other staff; however, it appears they have not seen a pub before let alone served in one.

As a local to the area, I have seen another manager a few times in the Duke of York in Southwark (not too far away) as it’s probably too expensive to drink in her own pub. A mid range medium Rose is £8.20 and in the Duke of York and other pubs close by the price is around £6.40. £8.20 is not normal price for the area.

Probably more expensive than the Hilton.

If you are a tourist in the Hilton next door, go further afield and save your money. Well 50 meters anyway there are cheaper pubs dotted around.

In addition, if there is a price on the website it probably wont match the price you are charged at the till. Ask for a receipt as you may be over charged. I got charged over £7.00 for a beer. Slightly cheaper than the American bar at the Savoy.

The food is hit and miss, if you get served. Some lovely looking cheesy chips got placed on the table next to mine. We went to the bar and was informed the kitchen was shut. Although, some tourists were ordering fish and chips at the same time and got served shortly after. Very odd.

We need more decent pubs in the area. Hope this one improves and/or my bank manager extends a loan so I can afford a glass of wine. From local knowledge there are cheaper and arguably better pubs...

This pub located not too far from Waterloo gives pleasant pub vibes upon entry with a more cosy TV viewing experience to the left and a more dining style area to the right and back with an area outside upstairs.

The experience was really disappointing and one of the worst I’ve had in a while in a pub. The person working the bar walked past us all about 6 times just looking at us before I finally stopped them and asked for a drink which they said nothing and then threw the drink down on the table and spilling a bunch of it and charging me £7.10 for the Aspell. This experience was had by everyone in our group with the person which was unnerving. The seat we were sat on was like an old church seating and it was very close to collapsing. Following this already disappointing experience, a different bartender poured a pint of something that wasn’t ordered when one of us was buying a round and yet forced them to pay for it.

An altogether very...

Let me ask you this. How in the world does it take a full hour to deliver an order of fish and chips when you are THE ONLY CUSTOMERS IN THE PUB? My order of a chicken and ham pie with mashed potatoes and peas (not very good) was delivered fairly quickly and my wife's order of fish and chips didn't arrive. I waited to start eating for several minutes, thinking the fish would follow shortly. It didn't. Apologies and a refund were offered, but after a 12,000 step day, we decided to wait for the fish rather than go elsewhere. After the long wait, the fish and chips were substandard as well. The decision to eat there was a huge mistake. Do yourself a favor and go...

The Stage Door & Kitchen tucked away behind The Old Vic in Waterloo, nearly Southwark. A delightful pub of the shabby chic genre and belonging to the Pieminister stable (We have a Labour Pieminister now), offering a great range of keg ciders and beers. There are also a couple of cask beers for them that do. The staff are magnificent, offering service second to none. There is also a magnificent roof garden with a couple of Big Screens for events etc. the views are magnificent, architectural icons, a grey wall to the south, a brick wall to the north, wheelie bins to the west + compressed cardboard bales (see photos). Lovely people and a lovely place.

What a wonderful experience! Visited for the first time in October 2017. The bartenders are nice and have plenty of different types of beer. The Manager came over and was very sweet! Back again in October 2018 and the manager remembered us. This time we ate here had the fish and chips along with a few bottles of wine. Just a wonderful experience. Back again on August 29, 2019 had the Fish & Chips @£11.95 (great price and it was a gigantic portion) and 4 beers @£21.60. Can't get enough of this place friendly bartenders and great food and beer.

Classic British pub serving pies and mash. The staff were very friendly and helpful in choosing our pints, letting us taste different beers till we found one we liked. The decor is classic pub with football on the tvs and people laughing and telling stories. Fun place. I had the classic beef and ale while my partner had the chicken and mushroom along with a pint. Both came out quickly. While both were very good we both felt that the chicken and mushroom was the winner. If you're in Waterloo stop here, you won't be disappointed.
