The visit would have been perfect and 5 stars if it wasn’t for the fact an item in my order was forgotten! I’ve never been to a Flat Iron before and fundly enough never had a steak either, so we thought we’d give this highly rated location a try! I made a booking online to ensure satisfaction and the website was easy to use and we turned up at the time of our booking. The location is very easy to access by public transport on foot so this was very helpful. Upon arrival, we were promptly greeted and shown to our table (I’m glad the staff respected our wishes as made in the booking for a ‘quiet table’) and we were given popcorn and water without asking! A subtle little touch that went a long way, the popcorn was delicious and complimentary. We then studied the menu and it was a simple yet effective offering; we both ordered the Flat Iron Steak with two portions of homemade chips and one serving of peppercorn sauce. The food didn’t take long and it was brought over within approximately 10 minutes of ordering, very fast! The steaks were cooked perfectly and well seasoned, it was excellent. The quality of the cut and flavour was immense with no need in my opinion for sauces or condiments. Unfortunately, only one portion of chips was delivered to the table so we only received one side between two people. I asked for the other portion to be brought over and the server agreed. The peppercorn sauce was brought over along with complimentary mayonnaise and ketchup, which I didn’t ask for but I appreciated that they gave us because we enjoyed these dips! As we were eating a member of staff popped over to check on our food and it was delicious, we were very impressed. There was no sign of the missing chips though and at this point we’d almost finished our food so gave up on bothering to ask for them again. It was disappointing to see as a member of staff brought chips out and had a spare set but gave them to another table so we were confused. The cutlery and the atmosphere was delightful; a small cleaver to cut the meat and also condiments on the table meant we didn’t have to ask for anything. The server was friendly and professional and went the extra mile to personalise our birthday booking which was gratefully received! This is why I decided to leave the optional 12.5% service charge on the order as I know mistakes happen but they redeemed the problem by making our visit very special! The quality of the chips and the steak was remarkable. To conclude, the food was excellent and the experience was good. When we paid the bill the chips that weren’t brought to us were still on the bill so I asked for these to be removed. I can’t unfortunately give the restaurant 5 stars due to these errors occurring but otherwise it’d have been perfect! The ice cream given to us when we left as well was a great touch and very tasty too, it had an amazing flavour and the member of staff giving us a departure greeting was lovely too. The value for money for our order was good too in my opinion as it was approximately £40 for two mains, a side, sauces and the water we had on our table. A lovely dinner for two for a special occasion, for only £40! That also included the optional service charge too and a charitable donation to the Flat Iron Fund. Would I go again? Yes. Would I recommend it to friends and family? Yes. Thank you for a lovely visit!

Do you remember Byron Burgers? Its founder was a man called Tom Bing. He created Byron in 2007 and the company grow up to the point of opening up to 69 different brands in the Uk. (Impressive, uh?) When Byron was on the very top he (Tom) sold the company to some investors. (It is pretty clear that those investors didn't know what they were doing to the point of "What and where on the earth is Byron now..." After that, he became a Flat Iron investor and in 2017 he became Flat Iron's CEO. This guy really knows what he is doing and you can experience it now at Flat Iron. The first Flat Iron was opened 10 years ago in Beak Street but with the bloody COVID time, distances have changed so much.At least to me) Anyway, let's go to the point. My wife and I went, for the VERY FIRST TIME to Flat Iron. The one in Waterloo. If you live in London and you fancy steak you have 2 options. You go to a steak house and you enjoy (or not) a big steak for no less than.. £35-40? (MINIMUM) or you go to a place like Flat Iron. We arrived there at a very quiet time. 5pm. It was just us and another table so we had the best service we could ever have wished for. We had the pleasure of being served by the manager due to many staff was on their break. Rob explained to us the whole menu and recommended to us his favorites on it. We had 2 steaks and a burger to share. An amazing meat feast. Steaks were medium-rare cooked and salted and peppered to perfection. I was expecting to be able to choose how cooked our burger was going to be but Rob told us that well done was the only option. I was a bit skeptical about it at the beginning but when the burger arrived, it was amazing. It could be a bit bigger for my taste (only 150g of meat) but for my wife was perfect. We had the homemade beef dripping chips (which shockingly didn't come included with the steak but, once again, Byron at the beginning didn't include the fries with the burger, isn't it? so there you go...) Do you know the stakes you can find at Sainsbury's? They are 225g. The Flat Iron Steak and the Special Scottish Bavette (which was extraordinary) are 200g each. Could they be a bit bigger? Yes, they could be a bit bigger but let me tell you that Flat Iron hasn't increased its prices for 2 years. With the big inflation that Europe, (pardon me, the UK too) is suffering, not having increased the prices of its menu is pretty remarkable. All this meat feast was beautifully paired with Rob's wine recommendation. The Dark Cherry Italian Pinot Noir. Really, really good experience. I definitely recommend this place. We will definitely come back. Ah, they have a private room for groups of up to 14 people? That's where my next birthday celebration is going to be placed for sure! Please don't take my word for granted and try it by yourself. Waterloo Flat Iron. Ahh, forgot to mention that you have free popcorn when you arrive and free ice cream when you leave. How cool is that? Please, check the pics because they speak by themselves!

So, here is the story of my carcus club experience. We waited for over 2 hours to be seated in anticipation of tasty steak. You may think I'm insane for waiting for so long for steak but the lovely woman who was in charge of the social media account showed me exquisite photos of the marbled cuts of beef that were in the kitchen. When I saw those photos, I knew I had to try this steak. During our wait, just when our legs were becoming weary from all the standing, a very energetic member of staff would routinely come outside and entertain us with amusing conversation to keep our spirits high. He told us about a customer who left a photo of just the chair alongside her review so if we want to give him a review, we could leave a photo of an item of furniture in the restaurant alongside ours. So that is why I have posted a photo of the chair with my bag on it and a light. So if you're reading this, you're awesome and I appreciate your energy. Once we were finally seated, we were greeted by another very cheery member of staff who filled our glasses with excellent red wine and served us meat flavoured popcorn. Finally, we were greeted with the main course. A very generous portion of steak and chips. I took one bite. Those 2 and a bit hours I spent queueing were worth it. The beef was cooked to medium rare perfection. It was so juicy and perfectly seasoned. The chips were a beautiful balance of crispy and soft. This paired well with the bernaise sauce. The crème de la crème was the Tahitian vanilla ice cream which to this day remains my favourite vailla ice cream of all time anywhere. So was it worth it? Absolutely. All of that for £20pp, I would do it again. I have no regrets. To everyone who took care of us from queueing to leaving, you were fantastic. I'm not going to eat steak or vanilla ice cream from anywhere else.

Flat Iron Waterloo Review

Flat Iron Waterloo is a standout steakhouse located in the heart of Waterloo, Ontario. Known for its high-quality cuts of meat, this modern yet cozy restaurant offers a refined dining experience. The menu is straightforward yet impressive, focusing on perfectly cooked steaks, each hand-selected and aged for optimal flavor.

Atmosphere: The restaurant has a contemporary and sleek ambiance, with warm lighting and industrial touches that make for a welcoming yet sophisticated setting. It strikes a nice balance between being casual enough for a night out with friends and upscale enough for a special occasion.

Service: The service at Flat Iron Waterloo is top-notch. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, offering recommendations on wine pairings and ensuring that guests feel well taken care of without being intrusive.

Food: As for the main event — the steaks — they are exceptional. The flat iron steak, their namesake dish, is cooked to perfection, tender, and bursting with flavor. The seasoning is spot on, and the meat is juicy and flavorful without being overly fatty. The side dishes are equally impressive, with options like creamy mashed potatoes, fresh seasonal vegetables, and crisp salads. Each plate is thoughtfully prepared, adding to the overall enjoyment of the meal.

The dessert options are also worth noting, with rich and decadent choices that complement the hearty meal. Their wine list is extensive, offering a wide range of both local and international selections that pair beautifully with the meat offerings.

Value: While Flat Iron Waterloo is on the pricier side, the quality of the food and the overall experience make it worth the investment for steak lovers. The portions are generous, and the quality is consistently high.

Conclusion: If you’re in Waterloo and craving a delicious, high-quality steak in a chic setting, Flat Iron Waterloo is a must-visit. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply indulging in a hearty meal, this steakhouse delivers both in flavor and experience. Highly recommended for those who appreciate expertly cooked steaks and a refined dining atmosphere.
