I’ve been a loyal customer at Theo’s in Elephant and Castle since 2023. It has always been my favorite pizzeria in London — consistently great food and warm service. However, my visit on Friday, 4th of April was nothing short of a disaster, and I left feeling disrespected and deeply disappointed.

I ordered the hazelnut mushroom pizza, which I’ve had high hopes for. Unfortunately, when it arrived, it was shockingly salty — so much so that even two people at my table, who usually love salty food, agreed it was completely inedible. I raised this with our waiter, who brought over the manager. Rather than acknowledging the issue or offering to replace the dish — which would have been the reasonable and professional response — I was told that this was simply “the nature of the pizza” and that it’s supposed to be that salty.

I’m well aware that gorgonzola is a salty cheese — I’ve had many variations and I enjoy even the most intense ones. But in this case, it wasn’t just the cheese — the sausage, mushrooms, and even the dough were all overwhelmingly salty, making the entire pizza far beyond what could be considered balanced or palatable.

I politely repeated my concern three times, even inviting them to taste the pizza themselves. But instead of showing any genuine care, offering a replacement, or even a sincere apology, they completely dismissed me and did absolutely nothing to address the issue.

I honestly hate writing bad reviews, and this is the first one I’ve ever written. But they left me no choice. As much as I’ve loved this place and recommended it to others, after this experience, I will never return. It’s a real shame to see a favorite spot go downhill so...

Theo’s Pizzeria offers a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, with staff who are both professional and accommodating. My dining experience began with the arancini as a starter, which were filled with tomato sauce and mozzarella. This classic Italian street food dish had a nice crust, but unfortunately, the rice inside was overcooked and the arancini were cold. On a positive note, the tomato sauce was very flavorful.

For my main course, I chose the broccoli and sausage pizza, one of my favorite combinations. The pizza featured a very thin and light dough, topped with an amazing broccoli cream and a crumble of sausage. The flavors were delightful and the pizza was well-executed. However, I did notice the presence of anchovies in the broccoli sauce, which was a pleasant surprise for me but could be problematic for those with allergies. It would be better if this ingredient was specified on the menu.

The pizza was so light that I decided to have a second one. I opted for a simple marinara, which was very garlicky and featured fresh tomato sauce and a generous topping of nice olive oil. Again, the pizza was well-executed and very satisfying.

Overall, Theo’s Pizzeria was a great discovery, and I look forward to returning. The staff and food were excellent, and I highly recommend...

Pizza authentically Italian. The place was heaving on a Sunday evening and we were told that it could be a while before a table became available (We had dropped in on spec and needed a table for three). They said we could sit at the small bar If we were prepared to wait. We chose this option and had drinks. We only had to wait about 15 minutes before we were seated. Our drinks were taken to our table for us. The relatively short time at the bar was more than rewarded with some excellent freshly prepared pizzas. I opted for the 'Anchovies tomato, capers, olives, oregano, garlic + Mozzarella' pizza. This was a hand thrown, rustic and very tasty offering. Both the Calzone and Tuna & Onion pizza's were equally enjoyed, so I am reliably informed. They certainly looked good. I did not partake of dessert, but my wife had the Tiramisu and said that it was light and very morish. My son had the Fritta Nuttela, tried by my wife and both thought it was a bit odd. It was not to their taste. This was relayed to the server when she asked seeing that it had not been eaten. To our surprise it was removed from the bill, a nice touch as we had not complained. If you like pizza, with good and friendly service...

Pizzas can be a bit of a faff at lunchtime especially you are on the go, and panini's are tried and tired. Welcome the panuozzo! They normally only do this folded pizza at lunchtimes on weekdays, but this appable sort behind the forno fixed me up with one on a bank holiday. It was like going into a mate's kitchen and sitting at the breakfast bar as he works his magic. Gosh, I wish I actually had a mate that does that! Within minutes a blistered ball slides out of the oven which is then slashed open and filled with aubergine, mozzarella and a healthy handful of rocket. The spoon of chilli sauce added a sniffling delight on a winter day. I got greedy and followed it up with a tirimisu for £6. Gone are the days I can scoop up the lot by myself...this brick of coffee and cream is one for sharing. They like what they do and they care if you like it. I do, very much.

We've been before in-person and really liked the food. But never again will we order for delivery as food arrived cold, ruined and below standard. Delivery by third-party company was psrtly at fault for not keeping the box flat, so not only did all the toppings slide off one of the pizzas, the juice from one ruined the others. So ended up eating cold pizza with a spoon. To make it even more annoying, both pizzas were undercooked, being soggy and doughy in the middle, and none of the pizzas had been cut into slices - which can't be blamed on the delivery company. So disappointed as the ingredients are good and we know they're great when dining in. This experience has made me lose faith in Theo's.
