My new favourite coffee shop.
I had the scrambled eggs on sourdough toast with a side of avocado plus buttermilk pancakes for my sweet tooth. Keep in mind they also offer lunch ranging a selection of warm sandwiches.
The eggs were delicious, had a velvety texture and lively orange colour. The portion of sliced avocado was surprisingly large.
As regards the pancakes, they were indeed fluffy as their menu claims. Served with powdered sugar and syrup. Portion size was again generous.
As far the ambiance, the place is set up the way you would want a coffee shop to be. Dark colours, wooden and leather material make for a independent and unique coffee shop vibe. The seating arrangement is also great offering from single to double to bench tables. Finally, there is a lot natural light coming in from the large windows which also give you a look to the busy Old Street just outside.
Overall, 5 stars given as it won't disappoint you and leave...
Read moreI'm not one to submit reviews, however Trade is worthy of a shout out from the rooftops!! I have now been here for brunch 3 times and ALL occasions were superb. This is by far the best place i have eaten in London since arriving in March (and ive been recommended quite a few places which do 'the best....'). Trade is a 10/10. Staff are friendly and attentive. Coffee is good. The star of the show is the brunch, the scrambled eggs with the roasted mushrooms is a taste sensation and unbelievably unbelievable. There are no words...plus the presentation reassures one that the whole dish has been lovingly pulled together and served piping hot (not sat under a hot plate until a skin is formed that could glue a box down) Bravo Trade and a massive acknowledgement to the chef who is consistently consistent and fabulously...
Read moreA regular at the Essex road branch. Decided to check this branch and the experience was bad. Food was great. The service on the other hand was horrible. The manager kept running his hands through his hair and then was plating the food with the same hands (did not wash his hands). His lack lustre attitude and not wanting to be present was excruciatingly obvious and clearly rubbed off his waiters. Our server shared the same attitude and was rude. We complained about the orange juice (had a few sips) being rather vinegary and all the manager said “ah ok”, and then walked away. What was equally frustrating was the manager and server pointing at our table and making disgruntled faces. Branch is in need of serious customer training. Not returning...
