I have been here many times before but had an awful experience this morning. My partner and I went for breakfast - I ordered the smoked salmon eggs benedict and a coffee. Our food arrived after about 10 mins and they had accidentally brought me the ham eggs benedict. An innocent mistake.

After another 10 minutes they brought me the correct dish. However, the smoked salmon looked vile and tasted just as bad. As you can see in the image, it was totally discoloured and resembled raw bacon.

I of course sent it back and was asked if I wanted to get something else. I was given no real apology or offer on the house. I said it had killed my appetite after being sent this inedible dish having waited whilst my partner ate for a second attempt.

We asked for the bill which obviously came without the smoked salmon. However, no other discounts were applied despite the mistakes. I pointed out to the waiter that whilst we were happy to pay for everything else, some sort of good will getsure would have been appreciated given the poor experience. She was defensive and tried to suggest that they had offered to get me something else earlier. I made clear that this was not an offer of any sort and they would have charged me for a new dish.

Regardless, I had no interest in ordering anything else given the food I had been served. Even so, there was no attempt to make amends, a cold attitude and a half-hearted apology. I made clear we would not be coming back, which did not seem to bother them whatsoever. What a shame as we have previously enjoyed...

Sadly I had a bad experience here for brunch this Sunday. I was on my own and went in and waited to be seated (as the notice asks), but I was completely ignored by the servers. I asked a gentleman behind the counter, who had his back to me loading the dishwasher, and he responded curtly saying “someone will be with you in a minute”. Again, nothing happened, so I had to politely ask another server who was hurting past, not making eye contact. I was seated at one of 3 or 4 empty tables. After being given the menu, no-one came to take my order….again I had to try to draw the attention of a passing server. I could have understood and excused this, if the restaurant had been full with a queue outside, as often happens, but it was only 2/3 full. Once I had placed the order for a grilled sourdough sandwich and a mixed juice, the sandwich arrived quickly, but the juice did not. Again I had to ask, and when it did arrive I was already half way through the sandwich. This was supposed to be roasted chicken, avocado etc, but the chicken was simply shredded, and the whole was “mushy”. I finished and asked for the bill, but even this didn’t arrive!! 😳. I went to the counter and asked to pay….this bit was the only speedy part of the process…£13 NOT well spent….so sorry. I’ve been here before and it was all round a delightful experience. Sadly will NOT be going back. Cannot risk hit & miss in this...

Chinese waitress was very rude and condescending.

My partner and I went up to the counter, the waitress told us to sit and that she would be with us soon, she should never tell the customers to sit down, ask them if they would like to take a seat.

I asked her if I could ask a question and the question I asked was simply to do with the dish on the menu that we would be purchasing and the price of it, when she replied it was in a way implying that I’m stupid or something, even my partner commented on what she said by asking me if the way that she spoke to me made me feel like she was talking to me like I’m stupid, I agreed with him.

I think that she should think about the job that she is doing and possibly think if she wants to do this type of work. Not a pleasant experience for my first time going to this establishment and because of it would not venture there again.

I was also over charged £4 for a can of sparkling apple juice which should have been £2, when correcting her and going back for the rest of my change, she pushed the £2 into my hand which I found very rude and disrespectful as we had chosen to come and spend £30at their establishment. Poor service...

Very disappointing, the place has gone massively downhill from the last time I visited. Prices are pretty high and portion sizes are small, with some of the most terrible coffee I’ve had the misfortune of drinking in the last few months. Didn’t have some juices in stock that they had advertised, and couldn’t be bothered to get a bottle of tap water when asked. You can see on the photo how awful the food looks, with a single tiny poached egg for the avocado toast, and may I add poached pretty badly, and the bacon which was a chargeable extra looking like it has had much better days. On the positive side, it’s a nice place to sit in with friends, most of the staff are friendly though there are a couple of soured face ones who look as though they want you out of there as soon as possible. I’m sad to say that it’ll be the last time I visit, as there are much better places to eat, and certainly much better places to get coffee with better service.

I ate here last weekend with my daughter, and to be honest, I wasn't overly impressed. The service was okay - the staff seemed stressed because it was so busy; I feel there are too many chairs and tables squeezed into the space - my daughter had to sit on a stool so there was nowhere to put her coat; I couldn't take my coat off properly as I was so close to the tables either side of me I worried about knocking them; no privacy because of the very close proximity of the tables; the tables weren't cleaned in between the change over of customers and the floor was filthy; the food was seriously over-priced - nearly forty pounds for a full English, a vegan full English, a latte and an iced coffee, and £4 is added to every bill at the weekend, on top of service charge; there is only one toilet for fifty plus diners.
