WHOLE FAMILLY FOOD POISONING!!
Around ten days ago myself and two of my family members booked a table at Verona for a meal. We arrived and ordered a set of starters and waited a while for them to arrive. We had the calamari, prawns and muscles.. the muscles were swimming in double cream which wasn’t very nice at all.
We then ordered our mains which was two chicken peso pollo pasta and some chicken liver. The wait was extremely long, approximately 1 hour and a half. We ate our meal and left.
That night I felt extremely drained and weak and went to bed very early, I woke up in the middle of the night vomiting all night and the next day, I then suffered from diarrhea for the rest of the week. My family consecutively had the same symtoms as me and were very ill. I also had to take time off of work.
I contacted the restaurant to let them know what had happened, so that they could keep an eye on it and maybe to figure out what went wrong that night. (Which I thought was nice of me not taking matters further). First I spoke to one of the waitresses who apologised to me over the phone. I then recieved a phone call of off the manager who basically argued that his food in his restaurant is very fresh. I then stated that I was calling just to inform him. He said that we could come in and have some food (which I wasn’t keen on doing, for obvious reasons) and then said to come into the restraurant and have a chat with him and he will give me a refund as a good will gesture. At first I wasn’t going to go in as the reason I was calling them wasn’t for a refund more to just make them aware as we are regular customers in Verona. I then opted to going in because I thought, you don’t pay 70 pounds in a restaurant to be sick.
I arrived in the restaurant and the waitress told me to take a seat to speak to the manager, the manager came over and we discussed what had happened and what I ate, he proceeded to tell me to be quiet as there was another customer in the restaurant at the time, and I did out of courtesy, as I said we are regular customers and didn’t want to cause any problems for him. He then told me that maybe it was the pesto and that I could be allergic to it, I stated I and my family do not have an allergy to pesto. He then stated we might ALL have a sensitive stomach to sea food. I told him that if it was one of us that got sick then it would be questionable whether it was food poisoning or not, but three people came into his restaurant that night and all left Ill, not having ate the same foods prior to this occasion, and my mum is a nurse. He then stated that he has had staff sick for two weeks and they haven’t been food poisoned. I wasn’t sure how that comment was relevant. He then took my number and said he will give me a call tomorrow and give me a refund.
I left the restaurant feeling embarrassed and like he was implying that I am a liar. I then called him back and said that I feel like he has dealt with the situation disgracefully. I said that a lot of people wouldn’t have been as nice as I was and would have called inviromental health. I said that you have invited me in for a refund on your own accord and now sent me away saying that you would call me back. He said that he has been nice in offering me a refund and will call me tomorrow.
The next day I recieved no call of off the manager, so I called and the waitress answered, she said that she has been made aware of the situation and the manager is busy but he told her to tell me that he will not be giving me a refund and that he wants me to go to the doctors and get proof and then “he will take it from there”.
I am absolutely appalled and feel like we have been treated very unfairly, I felt not one bit of sympathy of off the manager, he was rude and arrogance. The money is the least of my concern it was the principle all I wanted was a genuine apology....
Read moreAdmittedly we were a large party. But we had a reduced menu (only three starters and three mains other than pizza and pasta) Waited an hour for a kids starters and then an extra half an hour for the adults. My sister got told to be patient when she asked how long (after the kids had eaten their starters). My starter came out cold, ‘luckily’ they had made one too many and it was slightly warmer so I ate it because of the long wait. Took me half an hour to get a glass of wine which wasn’t up to the 250ml and when my sister asked for it to be topped up she got accused of already drinking it when it wasn’t even her who ordered it. We got treated as two tables rather than one larger party. The first tanke we’re getting their mains before the second half had even finished their starters They made a mistake by making too many starters and they charged us for every single one even though it was their mistake My brother and sister in law were running food from the kitchen and clearing the tables. The food took so long at least 4 adults and 4 children left before the adults had their mains and the kids got their desserts (which was in a kids meal deal) No apology no explanation the entire time we were there. And we were the only people in the restaurant When it came to the bill they ‘forgot’ to take off the deposit already paid AND put 10% service charge when the service was shocking and my family were helping them do their job The whole day was an absolute mess. We were there for over 4 hours and not everyone got their food. One person didn’t have a started so they waited no we two hours before they got something to eat I used to love Verona but I wouldn’t risk going there with more than a table of two and even then I am so put off by their behaviour that they have lost so many customers as my family members and friends used to eat their all the...
Read moreI recently dined at Verona, a charming Italian restaurant located in Morden, London, and I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the food and the service. The restaurant has a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
The menu is filled with classic Italian dishes that are expertly prepared with the freshest ingredients. The spaghetti carbonara was one of the standout dishes of the evening, with perfectly cooked pasta and a rich, creamy sauce that was simply divine. The tiramisu was also a must-try, with its light and fluffy texture and the perfect balance of coffee and chocolate flavors.
The service at Verona was top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who were always on hand to help with anything we needed. They made sure that our dining experience was truly enjoyable from start to finish.
Overall, I would highly recommend Verona to anyone looking for an authentic Italian dining experience in Morden. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a delicious meal, this restaurant is sure to deliver. I can't wait to go back and try more of their...
