One of my favourite places to eat at in London. Service has gone down slightly as well as food quality for new dishes though. I feel this is the influence of the American company that took over. Perhaps. For example, all the gaoza use to steamed. Now a lot of it is fried and we all know how much Americana love to fry. Trans fat fried food is not healthy. Vegetable gaoza is fried so I have to settle for other varieties like chicken. No idea why they made this change. Makes no sense to me. Possibly the quicker for them to cook,
They have lost a lot of more efficient staff, no doubt due to changes I was told. Shame because now service is slower than usual. They also need to learn basic hygiene which is no thumbs on plates !!!!! Bad habits die hard for a lot of people as I often tell them !!!
They have introduced some new vegetarian fishes. My advice is stay away from the vegetarian squid. This is the best evidence I can give of the poor changes concerning quality. It will cost you the same as real squid. Less 50p and all they give you is spiced batter with a strip of vegetarian filing. It’s like I was in another place and definitely not worth it. They should 86 this in my opinion.not even close to the quality I expect from this place.the mackerel dish could also be improved in mum pinion but you can’t please everyone
86 percent of the menu though is fabulous. Their ramen has always been a tad plain for my liking but I still love this place. I love the open plan and exposed kitchen so I can see what they are doing with my food. Hygiene is also major to me. You also get a free green tea if you ask which is a nice touch. A great idea, no doubt made by the original owners and gladly they kept this option
Do not eat at Marugame Uson. It just doesn't even compare. Everything fried, horrible service. Hygiene is lot of dishes everything pre cooked and on hot plates which I hate. East at Wagamama. Its a much...
Read moreWe have just tried to visit Wagamama in Brent Cross. After standing at the doorway for in excess of 10 minutes without being acknowledged by any passing staff, we politely asked a passing waiter if anyone was seating people. The waiter (Marius) very rudely proceeded to roll his eyes and state “I’m not a host, we have 2 floor staff working, if you don’t want to wait you can go online and complain” we pointed out that his attitude wasn’t great and we were simply asking if anyone was seating people. He shrugged his shoulders and again told us to go online and complain. We asked to speak to the manager. He simply said “she’s busy and is working on the bar” and then walked off ignoring us. One of my companions walked through the restaurant herself to approach the manager. She was met with the same blasé and dismissive tone and couldn’t care less about the way her staff member had just spoken to us and even rolled her eyes at her. This is the same manager who rather than speak to the customers who had been queuing to enter the restaurant, decided to take the time to speak to a gentleman saying he needed a quote for his journalism assignment, thus resulting in Several people leaving in favour of Another venue (where they were actually serving people) After working for Mitchell’s and butler’s hospitality myself for over 15 years, this was probably one of the worst customer service experience I have personally experienced. I understand when venues are short staffed, however, this really is a poor management foresight, it is not an excuse to be rude to potential customers. With the current cost of living crisis, perhaps your manager would do well to remember that eating out is a luxury for people and when someone chooses to spend their money in your establishment, they do not deserve to be treated so rudely when simply asking a...
Read moreMy youngest son has become obsessed with Ramen despite never trying it - and after this experience I'm hoping it doesn't put him off for life! My wife and youngest ordered the Chilie Ramen one with chicken and the other sirloin. My wife received her dish 10 mins before the next dish turned up and by the time ours arrived she had given up.
The noodles were congealed, thick, lumpy, and doughy, the broth was turning white from the noodles and after 3 mouthfuls, she gave up. When she finally asked the manager if this was normal, he said he could see straight away that it wasn't. My son's was little better and to call the meat sirloin, was an insult. Chewing on a shoe sole would have been more favourable.
They offered to replace one of the dishes but the damage had already been done, and appetites lost. We requested another squid starter which never turned up, just like the drinks that we had to request 3 times which when finally arrived had seperated they had been left on the side so long.
The only saving grace was their bang bang cauliflower was was outstanding and the chilli squid which was not as good, but a close second.
They had the decency to not charge for the two ramen's but what a truly awful dining experience.
No adequate apology and still paid £40 for leaving hungry.
Truly terrible...
