App alert - Pizza Express in the UK have upped their game on loyalty and their app is awesome. By signing up you can enjoy FREE sides and/or discounts. We had 2 classic style pizza's and saved £8 which these days, every penny counts. The free dough balls were a bonus ;-). +1 star
Arrival experience - my brother and I arrived just before the lunch rush. With lots of tables available, we were afforded the more intimate round couch style tables which normally serve up to 4. We didn't have much of a queue to wait to be seated but when things for busy (we were on Table 1 so had a good view) I could see the staff trying their best to seat incoming lunch diners. +1 star
Decor - Clean all around with the classic Pizza Express style blue interior. Chairs were clean but what let them down in this space was that a lot the curved/round seating was just aged. It has ripped (you can see the foam) and not what you would expect from a higher end Pizza joint in Brent Cross. Fix it! -1 star.
Staff - Top marks for our waitress who was well spoken and knowledgeable about the food on the menu (including all my brother's weird questions about Vegan stuff). Very friendly staff overall doing a fantastic job - Pizza Express have upp'd their game in this space too. +1 star
Food - let's face it, you come to Pizza Express versus somewhere like Pizza Hut or Domino's for the quality of the food, the freshly made dough and ingredients. This particular Pizza Express at Brent Cross didn't disappoint and served us quite speedily (we had drinks within 2 minutes and pizza'a

I'm not one to leave negative reviews often, but the level of service and food quality I experienced warrants it. To begin, the wait for our food was excessive. We placed our order and then waited more than half an hour for it to arrive, which felt like an eternity. Throughout this wait, and indeed the entire meal, the servers gave off a distinct impression that they'd rather be anywhere else. There was a noticeable lack of enthusiasm or attentiveness, and it felt like we were an inconvenience rather than paying customers. When the food finally did arrive, the main dish – my pasta – was completely ruined. It was burnt and genuinely inedible. I was shocked that such a dish would even be sent out of the kitchen. The culmination of this frustrating experience was the struggle to get the bill. We asked for it twice, and while our requests were acknowledged, we were then ignored for a good 20 minutes before anyone finally came over. It was a truly unacceptable wait, especially after such a poor meal. Overall, I cannot recommend this place based on this visit. The slow service, disengaged staff, and utterly burnt food made for a truly unpleasant...

The 3 of us had a starter and main. Despite it being packed and buzzing, service was quick. When my mum in law commented that she was "starving" the waiter kindly put the starter order starter straight through before completing the rest of the order so as to expedite it's arrival. After we'd finished on requesting the bill my hubby jokingly asked for discount explaining mum was celebrating her 90th. The waiter returned and by the look on his face we thought we might have got a little discount, but it wasn't. The whole bill was cancelled. All 3 of us could barely speak and it brought all of us to tears. It was such a a lovely thoughtful thing to do. My 90 year old mum in law was thrilled beyond words. It was a moment when your faith in human nature is elevated. I've enjoyed pizza express for many years. It was the go to when my now grown up son's were small. I think I will enjoy it even more now. Each mouthful of yummy pizza will remind me of the thoughtfulness and kindness of the waiter, and the look on my lovely mum...
