Really wonderful cafe but the approach to serving customers as fast as they can makes for a rushed and uncomfortable environment. We ordered the eggs florentine, two lattes and two pastries. They were the only redeemable factors to our visit, as well as the one lovely individual who initially served us.
I initially came here as I had to attend an online lecture soon after eating so it would have been convenient although it was quite noisy so I couldn’t really unmute. As I was in the lecture one of the waiters (I believe the head/manager) came up to us and abruptly alerted us of our 90 minute time slot running out. We had, of course, been made aware of it, and had even asked the woman who initially served us if we had to stick to the time frame but she said that it’s unnecessary if there’s no people queueing. The manner in which this was communicated to us by the waiter felt quite flippant - almost as if there was an air of indifference to our satisfaction as customers. I understand the need for strict regimented time slots when the cafe is busy, but this just made us feel rushed. My mother was halfway through drinking a tea that she had ordered after her latte and the waiter said that he would ’give [us] 10 minutes’ to finish the tea. This made us feel quite unsettled but as I was in the middle of an online lecture and kept having to disconnect due to being rushed, we decided to move downstairs (that is, after careful deliberation we were permitted to move downstairs so long as we ordered more things from the menu).
This experience was utterly disappointing given that we come to WatchHouse regularly (particularly the one in Tower Bridge) and have never experienced this at their other cafes. I personally love its minimalism and ambiance.
Irrespective of how busy a cafe is, however, there ought to be measures implemented to ensure customer...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting WatchHouse Marylebone, and I must say, it was an amazing experience! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the friendly and efficient service. The staff was incredibly organized and helpful, making sure my every need was met.
The establishment was spotless, with everything sparkling clean. I particularly enjoyed the cosy atmosphere and the delicious aroma of freshly brewed coffee. Speaking of coffee, let me tell you, it was absolutely top-notch! I savoured every sip of my perfectly pour over coffee, and the accompanying pastry was equally delightful.
But what truly elevated my experience was the exceptional service provided by the manager, Alessandro. He went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction. He patiently answered all my questions about the upcoming concert, provided detailed information about their coffee selection, and genuinely cared about making my visit memorable. His dedication to customer service is truly commendable.
Overall, I can not recommend WatchHouse Marylebone highly enough. The excellent service, cleanliness, delicious food and beverages, and the outstanding manager, Alessandro, all contributed to a truly five-star experience. If you're looking for a fantastic coffee shop with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, look no further than WatchHouse Marylebone!
I highly recommend checking out all the WatchHouse branches, as they all seem to be equally amazing based on...
Read moreGreat food and drinks, but somewhat disorganised at the busiest times.
Stopped for lunch and drinks midday on Saturday having previously enjoyed an excellent pour-over at the Hanover branch a few weeks previously.
The food was very enjoyable, and well-priced, probably the best part of the experience. Unfortunately drinks arrived quite late - mid meal - and getting extra milk was nigh-on impossible, I had to get up and go to get it myself from the counter upstairs.
Staff were all very pleasant, but too busy - there was a slightly chaotic feel to the whole place as if collectively the team couldn't really cope at this peak time.
Equally the upstairs area is much preferable for seating. It's light and airy, sophisticated - a great place to be. In comparison downstairs is dark and dingy, and perhaps due to the slow and confused service never feels relaxing or comfortable.
The pour-over was also not that great - had the Eduardo Douran, which i also have at home ground for a french press - and didn't feel there was drastically more clarity. Perhaps this was down to the busyness of the place and the order possibly being rushed.
Overall I'd love to go back during a quiet time to really enjoy the place and get the best out of the speciality coffee, but would probably make the trip somewhere quieter at...
