I visited today with a friend after getting a recommendation. The food was good but the service was poor. When we arrived two other tables arrived after us and yet, we’re served before us. I actually approached the waitress at the end before leaving to ask about this and she said there were some mistakes with our order and it had to be redone so that’s why it took longer. Ok, I understand mistakes can happen but this was never mentioned to us. Plus, this wasn’t just on the first order, this also happened on our second order (as it’s a buffet we made a subsequent order). It also doesn’t explain why the other tables tap water and hot pot were constantly refilled but ours wasn’t, we had to keep chasing her for a refill or any service. Compared to the other tables who were always checked on and topped up. Even when it came to the bill, again I had to chase this. My friend is Chinese so it wouldn’t be a language barrier issue. I just think they have an issue with me not being Chinese even though I was the one that recommended the place! She even stereotypically said she was surprised I knew about it and recommended my friend, instead of her recommending me. Well it’s ok, I don’t think I’ll return after that service. Also, when I was in the toilet she banged on the door asking how long I’ll be. And I explained I was changing my tights and she still tried to open the door?! Who does that? I felt very uncomfortable, especially when she spoke to my friend in Chinese all the time at the table but didn’t accommodate me even in short hand English. I had to use my friend to translate everything she said which felt rude. I just didn’t...
Read moreMy friend introduced me to come to the friend’s party this time 🎈 I booked a seat a week in advance. After arriving, I have cleaned up and arranged the menu and pencils.
The environment is very warm, and there is a fragrant and spicy taste when you enter the door. At first glance, it is an old store. The service is very good. The clerk is enthusiastic, and the boss is generous. The boss even personally helped to change the stove twice. If you have any needs, he will be enthusiastic to help you solve them.
Personally, I think it‘s a very treasureful hot pot restaurant. You can choose self-service, 20.99 pounds per person. You can choose 8 dishes to match each other as a single dish. I especially recommend lotus root slices, shrimps, beef, and hollow vegetables. It can be said that all the vegetables are very fresh and clean! I like it very much!
The small material table is fully equipped, clean and hygienic. Some Taiwanese and Hong Kong pop music popular in 2000 will be played in it, which is very atmospheric.
The seasoning sauce is a little sweet by default. Friends who like it can come. It is very cost-effective, and I...
Read moreHave been to Water House Restaurant a few times. Once for hot pot / steam boat and other times were a la carte.
We have only visited Water House Restaurant during the lunch time so have no experience with the dining experience. The food is well priced considering its location and clientele. The dishes were well present and seasoned. On the odd occasion a dish might be considered too tasty / salty if not eaten with plain rice. I would consider this place as my local Chinese restaurant that does decent Chinese food at a reasonable price.
The one time we went there for hot pot was a so-so experience. Upon entering the restaurant it was empty (not an issue) - we ordered our selection for the hot pot. During this time a few groups arrive (4 to 5 tables). The waitress got flustered from that point, this lead to other tables get set them ordering. And items arriving at their tables first in random orders. Trying to get top ups for the steam boat was a hassle as she was in a way run of her feet dealing with all the tables. Note this was a once off situation and should not bring down the rating of my other...
