Wngz Clapton — Restaurant in London

Late night hot wings restaurant with a range of sauces. The food at WNGZ sits somewhere in the mid quality considering the price. Had 12 wings, 6 x grilled and 6 x fried, with the Honey Siracha and Smokey BBQ sauce respectively, cost me about £10:45. The grilled wings were served hot and tasted good, but the fried wings were warm as if they had been left out for a while and then slathered in sauce to make up for the lack of freshness, the breadcrumb peeled off in one bite. Very disappointing and not a sign of quality. Then we get to the sauces, the selling point of Wngz is to have your wings in a range of flavors and to varying levels of heat, however all the sauces are way too overpowering, killing all discernible flavors of the food and just leaving you with a taste of sweet, sour, chilli or all of the above. There is not much of a middle ground here as all the sauces taste very artificial and leave a strong kick to the taste buds. The spice level is good, leaving a nice fiery singe on the tongue, but leaves no room for the flavors of the chicken. I understand that is how wings are done in these type of restaurants, but there is such a thing as too much sauce and no actual flavors. So, WNGZ is an interesting option in Clapton if you like strong sauces, but perhaps overall “too saucy” for my taste buds. And the lack of freshness on the fried wings is a major downer...

I love my wings and I love my sauce and @wngzuk brings it all together. Luckily they executed it just right because not only are the wings chunky, but breaded well enough to have crunch even after they cool down. Their sauces are really tasty too - Korean and hot were great but if you want proper spice, volcano is the one.

Their grilled wings weren't bad at all either but I think the winner was the fried wings. These guys have really worked on the batter and I can tell. No generic sauces here either and they're coating in a thick glaze of tasty flavours.

The burgers I thought were decent. They did have a crunch in the coating but I'd say just get a variety of the wings because they were 👌

I ordered on here a month or so ago and the wings came with a lotttt of jalapeños and spices, I don’t do well with spice but loved the flavour of the wings. So I ordered again tonight and SPECIFICALLY asked for no jalepenos or peppers to be added to my wings and also my cheesy chips.. when they arrived, they were COVERED in jalepenos and spices. So I could not eat it!!! Even my cheesy chips were COVERED!! I was hoping they would actually listen to the note in my order but they absolutely did not and as a result of that, I was left hungry and spent money on food I could not eat. Would not recommend if you don’t do well with very spicy food. My spice levels are ok but this is next level, when they’re literally covered!!
