From the moment I stepped into Woolwich Works, I was greeted by a vibrant atmosphere filled with friendly and welcoming staff who were eager to assist me. Whether you're in the mood for a captivating theatre performance, a hilarious stand-up comedy show, or a lively live music event, there's something for everyone at this exceptional venue.
During my visit, I had the opportunity to explore the venue's various spaces, including the stunning 1200-seat auditorium and the intimate black box theatre, each offering its own unique charm and acoustics. The fact that Woolwich Works also houses offices, television studios, and rehearsal spaces for resident companies further solidifies its position as a leading cultural hub in London.
One of the most remarkable aspects of Woolwich Works is its dedication to nurturing local talent and building a strong sense of community. By offering shared spaces for artists and creatives to collaborate and showcase their work, Woolwich Works actively fosters an environment of inclusivity and artistic expression.
The attention to detail in every aspect of Woolwich Works is commendable, from the carefully curated event line-ups to the warm and inviting ambiance created within each space. Furthermore, the venue's accessibility is a standout feature, as Woolwich Works goes above and beyond to ensure that all visitors can enjoy their experience without barriers. From wheelchair accessibility to hearing loops and audio-described performances, every effort has been made to create a welcoming space for everyone.
In conclusion, Woolwich Works is truly a gem within the London cultural landscape. Its outstanding facilities, inclusive atmosphere, and exceptional programming make it a must-visit destination for locals and tourists alike. Read moreWhere to start? Such a brilliant venue, with brilliant staff, friendly and creative atmosphere, great cafe with tasty treats and quality beverages… and best of all an incredible variety of shows and events covering pretty much anything and everything to dazzle and entertain audiences from all walks of life and varied interests. The program is rich in cultural activities, live music, and shows for any generations, including family friendly options, catering for multicultural and diverse audiences - which is the real amazing thing about it all. We’re so lucky to be a local business (a busy video production company in London) and really love it when we take a break from our studio and do some emailing or remote editing of our projects on a laptop with headphones whilst sipping a lovely tea or coffee at the Woolwich Works bar and breakout area (which has WiFi and excellent mobile reception). It’s so relaxed and bustling with curious minds form all over London who come and visit - and it’s a great place to meet clients too. One of the best things to mention is how easy it is to visit Woolwich Works and the surrounding area, it’s right by the Elizabeth line, there’s loads of environmentally friendly busses, cycle routes and also the very scenic river transport options seconds away which connect Woolwich to central London in minutes. It really is a very special venue, and an amazing contribution to the culture and entertainment scene in London and locally (and the UK overall). Their website is so easy to use and always up to date! Can’t wait to visit again...
Read moreVery spacious café, but that's about it in terms of positive things. It's a café that closes relatively late, but it's one of those "cafés" that doesn't serve coffee (which is an English word for café in case it is not obvious) after a certain time because the machine has already been cleaned or some other excuse. The staff, although not rude, quite often tend to take some time to acknowledge when someone approaches the bar when there's no queue and you're the only person waiting to be served. They don't have table service for the outside sitting, which is fine, but there were times when I went in with my son in the pushchair, and asked for a coffee, and they served me the coffee right at counter. The struggle to carry the coffee on one hand, while pushing the pushchair all the way outside was real and quite noticeable, but they didn't really offer to help and carry the coffee outside for me. This is not really going the extra mile, but a little help sometimes would have been, well, helpful. The selection of food during brunch is good, but it's a shame that after brunch time is over, there are no more options for savoury hot food, just some generic packs of crisps. It doesn't have to be a full on restaurant, but nowadays it is pretty easy to prepare some fries or some quick bites. After a certain time, the only thing you can get is just alcoholic drinks, beers and cocktails, and slices of cake. So yeah, the place definitely has potential, but it is not being used to its...
