My friend from the Netherlands came to visit London for a few days, and wanted to have a Full English before she went. The Workman's Café is just down the road from where I lived, and I decided to return to it due to its cozy, working-class migrant ambience, though I had not yet tried the fare there.
I was not disappointed at all - a filling Full English is extremely affordable here (8 and a half quid!!) Pictured here is also a glass of hot chocolate, which is not only priced cheaper than most Cafés in London, but possibly one of the best hot chocolates I had in the city.

Negatives:Coffee was instant, most classic cafes now do espresso machine coffee included and this one had a machine so no excuse really. The cost is basically the same, why give customers awful tasting stuff. Also the build your own breakfast included £2 for less than half a can of tinned tomatoes, which was a rip off. Overall it’s more expensive than other classic type cafes.

Read moreDoes exactly what it says on the tin - this is an archetypal worker's cafe, a proper old school, no frills, greasy spoon (a term I use with affection, it looked very clean to me). Everything here seemed to have a bit more flavour than the other nearby caffs I've tried, although my loyalty for the Regency Cafe down in Pimlico is unshakeable, and it's hard to imagine I'll ever find another place I like quite as much as there.
