I had the pleasure of dining at Yú Gé yesterday evening. The restaurant was unusually quiet, a welcome surprise that made the evening feel all the more serene. The space is elegant, blending contemporary design with subtle nods to Chinese heritage, and the service lives up to the high standards you'd expect from Park Hyatt.
From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed and attentively guided through the evening by Nathaniel. His impeccable manners, thoughtful approach, and genuine professionalism left a lasting impression. His service was consistently intuitive, always present yet never intrusive, and elevated the entire experience.
The food was outstanding from start to finish. The Steamed Dim Sum Trio was delicate and full of flavour, while the Iberico Pork was rich, tender, and beautifully aromatic. The Claypot Sanpei Chicken brought bold, comforting flavours and was wonderfully satisfying, perfectly paired with the Yangzhou Fried Rice, which was fragrant, well-balanced, and a refined take on a classic. I finished with the Mango Bliss — light, refreshing, and elegantly presented.
I look forward to returning during lunch hours to explore their full dim sum offering. Yú Gé stands apart from many upscale Chinese restaurants housed within other luxury hotel groups across London, a testament to its culinary finesse, tranquil atmosphere, and exceptional service.
EDIT (Lunch, Friday 8th August): I returned for lunch to explore more of the Dim Sum selection and was warmly looked after by Emma, whose attentive and thoughtful service made the experience every bit as enjoyable as my first visit. The glutinous rice with Chinese sausage was fragrant and deeply satisfying, while the Crab Meat Dumplings and Pan Fried Chicken Dumplings were delicate and flavourful. The Char Siu Bao and Chicken Buns were soft, well balanced, and a pleasure to finish. I ended with the Coconut Sago with Taro, a light yet comforting dessert that rounded off the meal beautifully.
Both visits reaffirmed Yú Gé as a standout destination, where exceptional food, tranquil atmosphere, and genuine hospitality come...
Read moreI’ve been to Yu Ge several times, both with family and on my own, and every visit has been a wonderful experience. The ambience is elegant and calm, the service consistently attentive and warm. The gentleman manager (I didn’t catch his name) was very thoughtful and helpful, and Emma has looked after me on several visits, always warm, professional and kind. The food is outstanding. The signature Pecking duck is beautifully done, especially the second course, perfectly balanced and full of flavour. The tofu and aubergine claypot and the seafood dishes, like the XO scallops and razor clams, are excellent too. On my latest visit, the fish I ordered was beautifully presented but turned out a little too firm to separate easily; I appreciated that the staff checked with the kitchen and explained the reason. Still, the overall experience was exceptional, and the valet parking service was smooth and reliable, which makes dining here completely effortless. A solid five stars from me, truly one of the finest Chinese...
Read moreAs a native of Guangdong, I found it quite ordinary. After seeing on Xiaohongshu that the chef was from Singapore, it all made sense! The stir-fried beef noodles: It was specifically described as being made with Angus beef. As a Cantonese dish, the dry-fried beef noodles can really show the quality of a restaurant. Although the restaurant was very upscale, the stir-fried beef noodles I had had tough beef that was overcooked and bitter. The noodles were okay, with a nice wok flavor... but the more I ate, the more bitter and burnt it became! The garlic sautéed water spinach was the only dish that was palatable and not too bad in this meal.
The soft-shell crab in black bean sauce was so bitter that I couldn't eat it! It still had that burnt and bitter taste! The spicy and sour seafood soup... it was so sour that I felt like I was going to faint! We also ordered roast duck... boneless roast duck... Sigh... I can only say that online reviews can't be trusted, they're all marketing! This meal was just a soulless...
