I ordered the chicken shawarma expecting to get a chicken shawarma. What I got was two tiny chunks of grilled chicken, some grilled bell pepper, no vegetables (onions, tomatoes, cucumbers) and no wrap. How can this be called a shawarma when they are no vegetables and no wrap? It's just like ordering a burger and being served a meat patty without the buns or tomato or lettuce. And being told it's another £3.50 for the buns.
The chicken is also tasteless despite the spices used. Even the £3 "chicken shawarma" salad from Aldi has more taste. Whoever cooked this has never eaten a real shawarma. The "international food" here is clearly targeted at British people who have never traveled and like their food plain.
It doesn't look or taste like a chicken shawarma. If I knew this is the "chicken shawarma", I would not have ordered it.
The portion size is also tiny. Even after ordering a flat bread to go with it, I'm still hungry. As a slim Asian woman who wears child-sized clothes in the UK, I always struggle to finish UK portions in restaurants. This is the first restaurant where I still feel hungry after finishing my food. Even Aldi's £3 "chicken shawarma" is more filling.
Highly not recommended.
P.S: After reading how the owner has previously responded to negative feedback, I am doubtful of her emotional maturity. Please decide for yourself if you want to deal with her kind of attitude should you come here and find something that doesn't meet your...
Read moreA really unexpected gem! I'd passed this place the day prior, and must admit I wasn't drawn to it from the outside, thinking it was just a generic coffee stop with not much character and just not my cup of tea (no pun intended). However, I passed again today and thought I'd stop in for a quick coffee as I was freezing, and was totally surprised by it in every way. The staff were really friendly, helpful, accommodating (fitting me in between bookings) and also super patient (with my stream of questions as to whether their oat milk was gluten free, whether they did decaf and also gluten free food), and with a nice vibe inside, I thought the menu was definitely worth a perusal. Not the type of menu I was expecting at all, with a lot of unusual and extremely tempting dishes. I opted for the small dish of the chicken shawarma with a side of gf flatbread, and wow! My taste buds were not expecting those flavours at all, it was divine, and I made sure to enjoy each mouthful fully. What started out as a potential stop for a quick coffee turned out to be one of the most enjoyable of hours of my trip. Fab service from people who genuinely seemed to care paired with good coffee, delicious food and a very enjoyable book for company! Thank you Emma and the rest of the team for a thoroughly...
Read moreWe visited The Green Cafe while we were on a mini break in Ludlow and what a treat! We fancied a late breakfast/brunch and booked a table for 10:30 (lucky we did as the restaurant was bustling and lively on a Monday morning!) I plumped for the 'Full CSON's' a mighty plate of locally sourced goodness; sausage, egg, bacon, toast, mushroom and beans - which was absolutely divine, never too greasy, cloying or heavy and bursting with fresh and vibrant flavours. A fry up like I have never had before ! My wife and my son opted for the BLT - which I am told was every bit as delicious - with homemade aioli and beautiful baby green mixed leaves complementing the thick local bacon all served up in the most amazing 'porridge bread' To complete the order, my daughter had a custom breakfast, where she got to choose the exact components she wanted; a lovely way for a slightly more particular and discerning consumer to assemble their choice! Obviously the food is always the main event, but the service always completes the occasion and I am delighted to say that they did not disappoint, all the staff that we spoke to seemed genuinely happy to look after us, and thanks in particular to Beth who was great. We will certainly look forward to visiting again next time we are...
