There are 2 downsides to this amazing place, which are more personal grievances than criticisms. Number one, that I can only give them one Google review at a time! And secondly, it's a 30 minute drive to go. This just means I have to write another (better) review and simply move to Malvern đ„ł
My wife and I came here back in April for simple suppers. Amazing, simple, very flavourful dishes. More elaborate words are not needed. Just a great menu overall. Fast forward to today, 2nd time round, taste of India simple supper menu. I didn't think it could get better than the first time, but to my delight, it did.
Pork loin with chickpeas, and whole cornish sole with romanesco, both superb. Roasted Bombay potatoes were a highlight also, very buttery and well cooked as was everything else. It really captured the taste of India, but in a way that is far removed from your traditional Indian takeaway, which I hope is taken as a compliment. Dessert too, bitter chocolate tart with tahini cream, ever moreish after every bite, and cardamom Panna cotta with plums, very fresh and very surprising.
Top this all with non-alcoholic cocktails, DEYA on tap (my lord!) and other local ales, the fact you can buy locally made products here like honey, jams, and chutneys and all the reasons that made our 1st visit memorable (great staff, great vibe, great location, great venue), it's a safe bet that I will be eagerly keeping my eye on their next menu but still booking regardless of what's on it, as I'm sure it will be as special as the times before!
Also, very dog friendly đ¶
Also also, did I mention they have...
Read moreSuper nice food but, unfortunately, terrible service :-(
We went for brunch and arrived around 11.45am on a Monday. We were seated in the back area. We waited ages for someone to come and take our order so I went to check if it was actually table service or if we needed to come to the front to order. Our waitress said sheâd be with us in a minute. When she did finally come, no âSorry for keeping you waitingâ or anything!
We ordered the veg Shashuka, the fried egg on sourdough with truffle oil and a side of the grilled mushrooms to share.
The food was delicious however the waitress never came back to check if all was ok, if we needed anything else or to clear the plates at any point. There were other people sat at the back who had also been âforgottenâ including a woman in a wheelchair. It was rubbish!
I could see the waitress chatting with her colleagues in the meantime.
I eventually went up to order a pastry as the waitress was still âtoo busyâ chatting with her colleagues to. come and see if anyone wanted anything. This too took longer to arrive than it should have so I got up to get it!
This was such a shame. I would suggest that either the waitress needs more training in âbeing a waitressâ or just tell people itâs not actually table service and then expectations would be more realistic.
SoâŠ, food is lovely but deffo donât sit in the back area if you want...
Read moreAmazing food, lovely people! Discovered this place coming down from a walk on the Malvern Hills. It was still open around 5pm (it was Wednesday) and whilst they were serving dinner and had long since run out of pastries they we happy to serve tea / hot choc and puddings from their dinner menu to some tired sweaty people. So glad they did. The puddings-chocolate tart with sesame cream and strawberry crumble- were so good we booked for dinner two days later on the Friday. They did not disappoint. The short menu allows each dish to be prepared with care. The burrata with roasted curried tomatoes was the stand out starter. Our party then had masala sole or pork loin with curried chick peas. There was a veggie option that looked good but we didnât try it. What we did have was delicious by common consent (we could not resist sampling each others dishes - good job we like each other!) Puddings were every bit as good second time round - with cardamom pannacotta and roast plums as the third option - also amazing. This seems like a new place (weâre not local so donât know) but it deserves huge success. If you donât already know it we strongly...
