How did Manchester not get treated to this steak haven before?

Located in the middle of Deansgate, this is a great spot for tasty and delicious steak which is really affordable. Read until the end to find out how much I paid. When you walk in, you are greeted with a very social atmosphere, which is usual in steakhouses like this. I was seated downstairs and it was much calmer. My seat placed next to the toilets which was convenient. The staff were really nice as well, really enthusiastic. They give you really nice popcorn (almost like some sort of appetiser but better) which is everything you can dream of when it comes to popcorn. Perfect amount of salt? Check. Perfect crunch? Of course. And the best part? Unlimited refills. Keep in mind, you get the popcorn for free (also the unlimited refills are free)

Anyway, I ordered the Flatiron steak with some homemade beef dripping chips (chips are extra). I also ordered some peppercorn sauce to go with the chips (also extra). I ordered my steak well done (food crime - I know) because I’m new to steak. Service was quite quick and I got my food. It looked quite nice, the steak was nicely sliced and the chips looked delicious. So I dug in.

Usually, if you go to a normal steakhouse and order a well done steak, it would be like chewing a leather boot. This wasn’t the case, however, with Flatiron. The steak was so tender, so juicy and so flavourful, I’m not joking. It was heavenly, and now, I dream of it everyday. Mmm. Also, the chips. Perfectly crispy, and pairs well with the peppercorn sauce, which was quite nice. Later on, after I finished my steak, I was greeted with a mini cleaver. Let me explain. You use these mini cleavers (drop them in a cup when you leave) in exchange for some tasty ice cream (Tahitian vanilla) which is akin to a Mr Whippy but better. The ice cream was sweet but also salty, which was quite tasty and a great way to finish off my lunch.

Now surprisingly: this steak (including the popcorn and the ice cream) was £14. Add the chips (£4) and the peppercorn sauce (£1) and you get £19. Wow. Usually, if a steak is this good, it would be quite pricey but here it was so affordable. Definitely, a great spot for price!

Overall, this place is a must. The quality steak, the crunchy homemade beef dripping chips, the Tahitian Vanilla ice cream, the popcorn?! Come on, I cannot put this place down. If you are in the middle of Deansgate, visit Flatiron!

I am a steak lover but I have to say this is 1 of the worst steak house I have ever eaten inn, absolutely disgusting and overrated it is definitely not value for money , the steak was very very oily/ greasy I've never been in a steak houes where i have seen steak so greasy , it was all over the board it come on , it was very greasy board it was very fatty steak more fat that meat I ordered a salad side which was covered in a dressing that literally was flooded the bowl , you get about 12 chips in a cup , I had to return my steak because it was undercooked it was a bad experience and I will not be returning. I could not eat / finish the food I ordered so i left and went to a restaurant around the corner ( sexy fish) And popcorn lol lol really what is that all about you are a steak house not a cinema hahhaha ... If I'm honest the miller and carter on king street around the corner is 10 x better than this place more comfortable seating and a lot more relaxed atmosphere , the seating in flat iron is very uncomfortable hard back chairs and very close to other tables you can just about pull your chair out before your sat on somebody's lap , very cramped up place if im honest is full of young people it's a shame Really because I heard so much about it and the reviews well what can I say .... please go try it for yourself but you will be disappointed I can't see it be opening for much longer especially with the other restaurants in the same vicinity, fair play to the people who are trying to make it work but if you are looking for repeat customers there is no way people are going to return with food like that ... a bit of advice you should be informing your customers you cook your steak in oil / grease because not everyone will like what you serve, steak is steak it should not been full of oil and played around with give customers the option if not have the steak cooked in oil ... I am just being honest in this review

Overpriced, overrated,...

My visit to Flat Iron was a truly enjoyable experience from start to finish. It's a steakhouse that gets so many things right, creating a memorable dining occasion. Right as you're seated, you're immediately greeted with a cone of complimentary salted popcorn, which is such a fun and unexpected touch – and yes, they offer free refills! It’s a simple but effective way to kick off the meal and creates a relaxed, welcoming vibe. Now, for the main event: the steak. As expected from a place called Flat Iron, the steaks were absolutely great. Cooked perfectly and full of flavour, they definitely lived up to expectations. We ordered a few sides as well. The salad was impressively fresh and tasty, a really good, vibrant counterpoint to the richness of the meat. The chips were decent – perfectly fine, but perhaps not as standout as some of the other items. However, the truffle macaroni cheese? Wow. That is an absolute must-try side. It was incredibly rich, creamy, and the truffle flavour was just right – seriously, make sure you order this! Just when you think the meal is winding down, they bring out complimentary free ice cream, which is another lovely little touch and a perfect sweet ending to the meal. The atmosphere at Flat Iron also deserves a mention. It's great – there's a lively buzz, yet the individual tables feel intimate, helped by the candle placed on each one, giving it a wonderfully romantic feel. It makes for a lovely setting whether you're on a date or out with friends. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Flat Iron. The combination of excellent steak, fantastic sides like the truffle mac & cheese, thoughtful complimentary touches like the popcorn and ice cream, and the wonderful atmosphere makes it a place I'd definitely recommend and eagerly return to. A solid choice for a delicious and pleasant...

Love this gaff, the scran is proper sound. The meat's bang on, cooked to a T (get it medium-rare, you won't regret it). Their iconic Flat Iron Steak never lets you down, and this time I gave the Wagyu Picanha special a whirl, and it was absolutely boss. Their mash, chips, and Mac and Cheese are from another planet, seriously. On top of the cracking food, the service is top-notch, with little things like getting free popcorn when you walk in and an ice cream when you leave. Dead good value for money, this place is.
