👎Unwelcoming and Discriminatory Treatment Came to Flawd during the Manchester Jazz Festival, excited to enjoy some live music. While the staff at the bar were initially friendly and the rosĂ© wine I ordered (two glasses for ÂŁ17.85 – quite pricey) was decent, the experience quickly turned sour. Because the venue was full, the staff suggested we stand near the entrance. We weren’t the only ones — many people were standing or sitting outside on the chairs placed by the bar. However, a staff member (a woman with long black hair and blunt bangs, dressed entirely in black) came up to my boyfriend and me, very sternly telling us that we were not allowed to drink outside😅 When I politely asked why, she repeated my question in a mocking tone and told us again — quite rudely — that it was “the rules.” We felt singled out and unwelcome. I couldn’t help but notice I was the only Asian woman standing outside, while others were allowed to enjoy their drinks with no issue. This double standard left a very bad taste. 👎Whether it was personal bias or poor communication, it ruined what should’ve been a fun night. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for a warm and inclusive atmosphere!!! Shame!!!

I hadn’t visited Flawd before - a wine bar on New Islington marina - however, we heard there was a special tomato celebration. Tomatoes?! Hell yes. I have rarely left a wine bar feeling as nourished. The tomato fest was insane. Fresh, ripe and grown locally. The other fresh vegetable dishes knocked me for six too. Especially with the romesco sauce. Bang. So, coupled with an extensive (and in parts, a little challenging!) wine selection the whole the gig was spot on. I also learned that Flawd is owned by the good people of Higher Ground. Class. Go, but I can’t guarantee the tomatoes will be on. But, so what?

Had a (super) quick plate of food and a beer & will definitely be heading back for more. It’s tiny but has decent outside seating and occupies a lovely spot on the marina - it’s amazing to see how this area has really settled into being its own thing. The place is clearly the work of people that care for and love the products they serve and environment in which they work: service was genuinely friendly and the food was excellent in a way that showed care and understanding for the ingredients. You couldn’t for much more from a neighbourhood business, and it was a real pleasure to visit.

Oddly pretentious is the only way I can describe this place. The service was brilliant until we ordered and paid, and then it was like we didn’t exist. We had the Potato Salad and the Cheese and Crackers, the Potato Salad seemed to only have the Cod’s Roe for the sake of saying they served Cod’s Roe, as it completely unbalanced the whole dish (it even felt like it lacked the basics like salt, pepper and some lemon juice; as well as the potatoes not being undercooked) and the three cheeses were, for all intents and purposes : 1) Brie (but worse), 2) Cheddar Cheese (but worse), and 3) Stilton (but worse). The only saving grace was the chutney, which made the 4 ‘crackers’ we were given bearable. All in all, given its proximity to truly great food and drinks, I would recommend you save yourself the time and...

Really great place for day drinks in the summer months, relax with a chilled rosé wine overlooking the marina.

Less of a main stream bar, more of wine tasting pop in with thoughful choices and tasty complimentary food. I feel the concept does not aim to give a wide selection but focuses on sharing the knowledge of recommended natural wines.

A small neighbourhood venue, the clean flavours and attentive service make for an airy pleasant experience. Very light crisp environment due to its location on the canal and the scandi wooden benches.

Overall feel; lovely place to pop in and try something different to the everyday wine, taste something new and experience a selected quality product.
