đUnwelcoming and Discriminatory Treatment
Came to Flawd during the Manchester Jazz Festival, excited to enjoy some live music. While the staff at the bar were initially friendly and the rosĂ© wine I ordered (two glasses for ÂŁ17.85 â quite pricey) was decent, the experience quickly turned sour.
Because the venue was full, the staff suggested we stand near the entrance. We werenât the only ones â many people were standing or sitting outside on the chairs placed by the bar. However, a staff member (a woman with long black hair and blunt bangs, dressed entirely in black) came up to my boyfriend and me, very sternly telling us that we were not allowed to drink outsideđ
When I politely asked why, she repeated my question in a mocking tone and told us again â quite rudely â that it was âthe rules.â We felt singled out and unwelcome. I couldnât help but notice I was the only Asian woman standing outside, while others were allowed to enjoy their drinks with no issue.
This double standard left a very bad taste. đWhether it was personal bias or poor communication, it ruined what shouldâve been a fun night. I wonât be returning, and I wouldnât recommend this place to anyone looking for a warm and inclusive...
Read moreOddly pretentious is the only way I can describe this place. The service was brilliant until we ordered and paid, and then it was like we didnât exist. We had the Potato Salad and the Cheese and Crackers, the Potato Salad seemed to only have the Codâs Roe for the sake of saying they served Codâs Roe, as it completely unbalanced the whole dish (it even felt like it lacked the basics like salt, pepper and some lemon juice; as well as the potatoes not being undercooked) and the three cheeses were, for all intents and purposes : 1) Brie (but worse), 2) Cheddar Cheese (but worse), and 3) Stilton (but worse). The only saving grace was the chutney, which made the 4 âcrackersâ we were given bearable. All in all, given its proximity to truly great food and drinks, I would recommend you save yourself the time and...
Read moreReally great place for day drinks in the summer months, relax with a chilled rosé wine overlooking the marina.
Less of a main stream bar, more of wine tasting pop in with thoughful choices and tasty complimentary food. I feel the concept does not aim to give a wide selection but focuses on sharing the knowledge of recommended natural wines.
A small neighbourhood venue, the clean flavours and attentive service make for an airy pleasant experience. Very light crisp environment due to its location on the canal and the scandi wooden benches.
Overall feel; lovely place to pop in and try something different to the everyday wine, taste something new and experience a selected quality product.
