A True Taste of Punjab in the Heart of Manchester

Nestled in the heart of Manchester, My Punjab offers an immersive culinary journey that transports you straight to the heart of Punjab. From the moment you step inside, the restaurant exudes warmth, with its cozy yet vibrant decor and the unmistakable aroma of spices that fills the air, making it clear that this is not your average Punjab dining experience.

Ambiance & Vibe: The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between traditional and contemporary. The vibrant color palette, intricate patterns, and soft lighting create an inviting atmosphere perfect for both casual dining and special occasions.

The Food: When it comes to Punjab cuisine, authenticity is key, and My Punjab delivers on that front. The menu is a celebration of the rich, bold flavors of Punjab, with a variety of options that cater to both vegetarians and meat lovers alike.

Starters: Their Paneer Tikka is a standout, perfectly charred on the outside while remaining tender and flavorful on the inside. The spices are just right—not too overpowering, but enough to bring out the natural richness of the paneer. For those who enjoy a bit of heat, the Samosas are crispy, with a well-spiced filling that leaves a satisfying kick after every bite.

Main Course: The Butter Chicken is undoubtedly one of their signature dishes. The creamy, rich tomato gravy is flawlessly balanced with tender pieces of chicken, making it an absolute must-try. Pair it with their Garlic Naan or Basmati Rice, both of which complement the main dish perfectly. For vegetarians, the Sarson da Saag with Makki di Roti is a traditional favorite, delivering earthy flavors that are so authentic, you almost feel like you’re dining in a rural Punjabi kitchen.

Drinks & Desserts: My Punjab also offers a great selection of traditional drinks, from the tangy and refreshing Mango Lassi to the more indulgent Masala Chai. For dessert, the Gulab Jamun is a sweet finish, with soft, syrup-soaked dough balls that melt in your mouth.

Service: The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to offer suggestions or answer any questions about the menu. They take great pride in the food they serve, and their enthusiasm is evident in the way they talk about the dishes.

Final Thoughts: Whether you're a longtime fan of Punjabi cuisine or a newcomer eager to explore, my Punjab Manchester offers an unforgettable dining experience. The combination of warm hospitality, authentic flavors, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a standout spot in Manchester. Whether you're craving comfort food or an adventurous new dish, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the heart and soul of Punjabi cooking.

The overall experience was decent, but it can be better.

The atmosphere and ambience is very pleasant at the restaurant; the decorations/styling of the room are particularly good.

The starters we had were good, albeit expensive, especially the lamb chops which were eleven pounds.

The main meal was very tasty - particularly the chicken karahi. We also had the butter chicken, which was nice, but it wasn't as nice as the butter chicken from Akbar's nearby which is on the same street.

Due to the location of My Punjab, comparisons with Akbar's are inevitable.

In terms of price, My Punjab is not as good as Akbar's when it comes to value for money - as Akbar's is slightly cheaper. The butter chicken at Akbar's was more tasty than the butter chicken at My Punjab.

Also, there is no family naan size at My Punjab unfortunately.

One particularly disappointing and frustrating part of the visit to My Punjab is that they don't offer tap water at all whatsoever - so, you have to pay for water no matter what. This is really off-putting, especially when pretty much every restaurant offers tap water for free for customers should they want it.

The experience can be so much better, but it's let down badly by its price sadly. For example, five pounds for two poppadoms with four or five chutneys is extortionate.

Furthermore, two pounds and fifty pence for soft drinks is really bad pricing, especially when the size of the drinks is only a can size at around 330ml.

The big positive of our visit to My Punjab was the customer service of the staff member who served us - Ahmed. He was very attentive, caring and always thoughtful.

I’ve been here twice now and I’ve got to say, both experiences were really enjoyable. What makes this place stand out is it's unique concept, they give you two menus: one from My Punjab Restaurant and another from Seaworld Restaurant. And here’s the best part: you can order anything from either menu and mix and match your favorite dishes. It’s such a fun and innovative way to enjoy a variety of flavors all in one meal.

The food from both restaurants is absolutely fantastic, full of flavor, well-prepared and definitely satisfying. Whether you’re craving some spicy Punjabi dishes or seafood specialties, you’ll find something you love. The portions are generous and the taste really hits the mark every time.

The ambiance of the place is relaxed and welcoming, perfect for catching up with friends or having a laid-back dinner. It’s clean, comfortable and has a friendly vibe that makes you feel right at home. The staff is attentive and friendly, adding to the overall positive experience.

All in all, this is a place I’d highly recommend to anyone looking for a tasty, versatile and enjoyable dining experience. Whether you’re in the mood for a casual night out or want to try something a little different with their mix-and-match concept, this spot is definitely worth checking out. I know I’ll be coming...
