Disgusting service What a joke! I would have liked to order the all day breakfast; was told they are not doing breakfasts today. Its half the menu on offer! so I ordered the double cheese burger and nachos; when it arrived I got a "double cheese" burger and bacon. You might be thinking well that's what I asked for but no its not on the menu I showed the lady and was given attitude that a double cheese burger means double cheese...she convinced me I was in the wrong...just because her till says a burger with double cheese. I sat back down and thought it through - no I am 40 years old well travelled...a double cheese burger anywhere in the world means two patties/burgers and then what ever they put on it. I looked at the menu on my table and it was different from the menu we ordered from at the bar; I could not find the item the lady had charged me for on either menus. I was told since I have taken a bite out of the burger they would not do anything about it...like they would have done anyway! They said I had to visit the web site on the receipt...that's another joke...its for sale by another dodgy company (see photos)...they don't even have it right there either...then since I am complaining all the tables had empty condiments and I was not offered any either when the food was brought to the table...and yes I was paying £14.99 for a cheese burger remember this isn't macdonalds pricing - had better service from macdonalds! I am off now to find the head office I think they have got that right on the receipt well done. the place was not busy it did get busy but barely 10 people in the entire place at the time of ordering and...
Read moreI had the best time in Leeds last couple of days, although my nearly 3 year old was massively out of sorts/ full of cold- especially yesterday.
We got 2 trains home, then waited for a taxi. I purposely stopped off at the bar at Manchester Victoria as she needed to eat and for her to be roused awake as she slept.
She wasn't happy at all and just wanted to cling on to me, crying as she couldn't tell me what's wrong ( global development delays).
I was stuck there, a pram, bags and a very clingy babba who hasn't been walking that long and still gets unsteady. She just wanted cuddles.
I spoke with the staff to see if anyone from the transport could possibly assist me at the station into a cab.
They went above and beyond. A member of staff actually approached me and carried the bags and unfolded pram, waited for my cab ( which parked a good walk away, ) and happily stayed chatting and walked the distance with all my stuff.
There ARE a few good men, he is one of them and a credit to the place. So thanks to the true Irish gentleman- I try to do my best by people, but I'll definitely pay this forward too.
The kindness of strangers leaves a lifelong, lasting impact- especially when you're alone and feeling a little...
Read moreStopped in whilst waiting for a train back to Newcastle. Had a few pints of Jaipur and a burger. The burger was on offer and so very fairly priced given the city centre, on a train platform, location. Even though the pints were fairly expensive they were very good: cask ale can be difficult to keep well but it seemed very much OK to me so I did not feel short changed. The team member behind the bar was chatty and friendly, something that might seem an uphill struggle at times given that it doesn't seem somewhere to have much repeat custom, but he was clearly someone who values good quality beer, kept and served well. I didn't catch his name but he was of slim build with long hair, and possibly mentioned he was originally from Leeds.
Aesthetically, the Beer House has a very attractive tiled exterior: art deco influenced, perhaps? Inside is less remarkable but I was not bowled over by the ketchup in the suitcase.
Somewhere between four and five stars, so might as well round up rather than be too harsh.
Very glad I didn't go to the...
