Me and my friends come here almost every tuesday, but last night one of the bouncers made me and my friend feel so unsafe, we were downstairs going to the toilet and i was more sober then my friend so went in the cubicle with her to hold her phone, bag etc to make sure she didn’t drop it, as she was on the toilet someone (and as we can’t see through a wooden door we didn’t know who) was banging the door, pushing it which obviously scared us as we are two young girls exposed in the toilet stall, i pushed back on the door ensuring no one could open it untill my friend had her trousers up, when i opened the door the downstairs bouncer pulled me and my friend shouting at us saying we pushed him, we didn’t, i had pushed the door to keep it closed in order to give my friend some dignity, he then started screaming at me telling me about the one person per cubicle rule which to be honest i didn’t know about, and did apologise to the bouncers outside for not knowing this, the bouncer then proceeded to grab my friend and pull her out of the club via a stairwell neither of us has ever used before which was pretty scary, he then proceeded to chuck us out even after i asked him if we could just tell our friends who were still inside. My friend has woken up today really upset about the whole ordeal, i completely understand it was a one person per cubicle rule, but we didn’t know and to be treated like that was very scary, we’re unsure if we ever want to...
Read moreLost my friend and my phone was dead, asked 3 separate members of staff if I could charge my phone behind the bar as I was a young girl by myself in town and all 3 refused even though I was very clearly vulnerable. There was a charging port which you had to pay for, again asked the bar staff if one of them could tap for me and once my phone was charged I would transfer money as I had no way of getting home. When I told the staff this they just said they couldn’t do anything and walked off.
Whilst I understand it’s my responsibility to get home, I’d expect the staff to have some duty of care when it’s clear one of their customers needs help.
I had to leave the club at 2am by myself and flag down a black cab with a dead phone, which was very scary as a girl by myself in the middle of the city. Luckily I managed to get home safe but with absolutely no assistance from any member of staff. Definitely will not be returning again and think the staff need to be taught that the safety of customers should be one of their priorities and it’s scary to think what may happen to someone in a similar situation to myself in the future if they choose to go here.
Edit: won’t let me reply to the bar, but I will not be contacting anyone by phone and won’t be returning. Please use this as an opportunity to ensure the safety of your customers is a priority...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible service BUT I'm going to be pragmatic. We are emerging from a pandemic and the government has put rules in place for venues to navigate. Ever changing rules. I have two venues myself and I know that different councils can act different even to government guidelines and this place has clearly been given a kicking by the beauracrats.
However, as a publican I know that I can write this knowing I have full faith in my honesty.
We sat in a booth, 4 of us chatting and yes admittedly laughing. The young man for whatever reason, perhaps he wanted to have an early night, perhaps he just didn't want to serve us told us after two drinks "I've been told this is your last drink" . When questioned he advised that we weren't "following covid rules" when questioned against he walked off.
Spoke to manager who then brought up we had called the staff member a "d - head" - total fabricated lies. Not even a cross word was exchanged.
You are more than entitled to ask people to leave your pub and you don't even need a reason if you're that way lnclined but they just made stuff up and we weren't able to disagree. That is not how it works
Don't read this and not go. Do go. Great pub. But needs to relax which is extremely hard in this game at the moment hence why 5 star review.
Just calm down, and don't...
