We stayed at Leven for 13 nights so we got a pretty good feel for the place. Here are our observations from those days & nights:
They have a very accommodating & friendly staff. Jasmine, Josh, Jack, Lara (and everyone else, I apologize for not learning your names) treated us well. Lots of recommendations, guidance & attention to service. Should you wish a cocktail, a beer or a coffee (flat whites were nicely done), they can make you one at reception. They do offer a breakfast (12 GBP I believe) but we did no avail ourselves of. No cooked items are available. As for the important part of any stay: the mattress, duvet, bed linens & pillows are excellent. You should sleep well (more on this shortly). The room is well designed: ample shelves, cupboards & flat surfaces for all your travel items. The rooms are extremely well kitted out: fridge, stove, pots, pans, dishes, glasses, dishwasher, clothes washer & dryer, table & chairs. You are not likely to find such an extensive array of amenities in many hotels. A minor suggestion: a few hooks at the door to hang things would be helpful (I don't think it would destroy the design aesthetic). Toilet facilities are first rate. Great shower head, plush towels, good lighting. Another minor suggestion: add a box of facial tissues. Housekeeping is thorough and efficient. They will keep your room sparkling. They prioritize check outs so some days our room was not cleaned until 3:00 to 5:00 PM. We did have a minor issue with a financial situation. This was immediately corrected to our satisfaction. Note to fellow travellers: if you have an issue with an establishment, talk to the manager first before ranting on social media. I tend to think most businssses want happy customers & if your request is reasonable they will correct it. The hotel is in a terrific location. No once in our 13 days did we require a taxi or ride share services. Every night we walked to pubs, lounges, clubs & restaurants. The Northern Quarter, Ancoats & Deansgate neighbourhoods are an easy 10 to 15 minute walk. From the train station it is less than a 5 minute walk. Now back to the sleeping issue. Be forewarned: the hotel is located in the midst of The Village with LOTS of clubs, bars & restaurants. Keep in mind: it is not the fault of the hotel if a bachelorette party starts screaming outside your bedroom window at 1:00 AM. Just put in the hotel supplied ear plus. We actually enjoyed all the clubs within a block (do not miss VIA for a fun night out !).
The City of Manchester & Leven really exceeded our expectations. Mancunians are a friendly lot & the staff at Leven have this in spades. Do yourself a favour & book a...
Read moreMy agency have booked my stay at Leven multiple times over the years and more often than not I have been satisfied with my stay, the staff are polite and friendly, rooms are clean. Besides the noise on either side of the hotel I’ve usually had a comfortable stay. However on a few occasions I've arrived at the hotel and a booking that I’ve had confirmation for has not been on their system leaving me having to find another hotel with the help of my agent at almost midnight on one of these nights. On this occasion a booking was made and paid for, for a 2 night stay and was cancelled last minute (for both nights) when I arrived I spoke with my agent who had checked with reception and she was told that it had all gone through. This morning I then checked again with reception and was told that in fact I had no booking for this evening and all rooms were now fully booked. I had to leave for work and had left my belongings in my room and told one of the staff that I’d get the agent who made the booking to call and discuss again as she had received confirmation and was told earlier the day before that they had me down for the 2 nights under that booking. Whilst at work my agent had told me that other than “sorry” no explanation had been given to why the mistake had been made and that they were sending a cleaner to go into my room and pack up my belongings for me (I had not given ANYONE permission to do so) if I’d have known I would have made arrangements myself to go and pack my things up. I had valuable items and also personal items that I wouldn’t have wanted a stranger to be rifling through. After work I went back to the hotel to collect my things, my shoes, wash bag etc had just been dumped open into a black bin liner and my clothes stuffed into my suitcase. I’ve left upset and angry that no care or respect for not only my belongings but my space and privacy has been exhibited. It’s a complete invasion of privacy and lack of care and I’m extremely disappointed with how this situation has been handled. I’ve instructed my agency to never book Leven again and hope that this doesn’t happen to...
Read moreGenuinely still cannot get over how absolutely perfect Hotel Leven is. We live in Manchester but we were getting married at the Registry Office and wanted a base for ourselves, our 2 kids, and our families, for the wedding eve where we could stay seperate from each other in the traditional sense, and wedding night together post wedding celebrations - Leven ticked all our boxes, right in the heart of town, super new and modern in our favourite industrial kind of style - stylish, functional comfy rooms with a view, with an amazing kitchen that we could work between the rooms with to feed and water all of us, a gorgeous bar downstairs for drinks, huge amounts of space in our bedrooms for us all to get ready for the wedding and help each other out because we were all next to or facing each other.
The rooms make THE BEST backdrops for wedding photos. The Best. The staff at Leven are also absolutely incredible - so kind and helpful - we were upgraded to a stunning penthouse suite for our final post wedding night, decorated with rose petals and a bottle of fizz, a stunning gesture that really was the cherry on top of a genuinely perfect wedding. I really don't think you can get a better hotel in Manchester City Centre. Thank you to everyone at Leven for giving myself and my new husband, our kids and our families memories that'll last a lifetime, you'll hold a special place in our hearts forever.
Edit: Returned to Leven a few weeks later because we had post-wedding blues & wanted to have a special night out in town - once again, this hotel proves it's the best in Manchester - we were upgraded again to a room with a beautiful bathtub in the window, a seperate HUGE living space and just the most stunning aesthetics with the exposed brick and industrial vibe. I could honestly live here forever (and wish I could). Thank you once again to the incredible team at Leven for everything you do, you're all as amazing as...
