I rarely post negative reviews, but this was just one of a kind. On a bank holiday, New Year's Monday, me and my girlfriend have been searching for some food after a long day. As you can imagine after 8 p.m. many places were already shut down and disappointed we were about to get some bad takeaway when we noticed the Crafty Pig is still open. We walked in at 20:18 (google timeline) and asked at the bar if the food is still being served. The answer was yes, in a casual way, as if there was no question about that. It made us very happy! We sat down at the table and started browsing the menu while chatting. We decided to use the app not to have to queue at the bar. The app was not accepting our order though. My girlfriend went to the bar to ask what is happening and see if she can just order in person while I went to the toilet. She had been told that the kitchen just closed down (20:27, 9 minutes after entering the venue) with an addition of a snarky remark and a laugh. I came back and found out about this, we then decided to leave the premises and I questioned the situation one more time on the way out, saying we have just been told the kitchen is open and wasted our time. In response to this the boy got defensive and said it took us "10-20 minutes" to order. I didn't know there was a 5 minute time limit to place the order, at no point have we been warned that may be the case. There was not even a sign of being apologetic for not informing us, absolutely no effort made to make up forit, but a defensive, passive aggressie attitude. We decided it is not worth arguing about and it will not bring us any closer to eating.
Needless to say how disappointing it is, that the staff has absolutely no manners and lack professionalism. It is understandable that no one wants to be working late on a bank holiday evening, which can bring out some frustration, but I am sure Crafty Pig can do better than that. Hiring grumpy teenagers is not the way to set a customer service standard in hospitality. Will not be coming back. I am pretty the male's name was Ben, not sure about his female...
Read moreHaving never been before, I had the pleasure of having a bottomless birthday here yesterday with a big group of friends (one of the only ones I could find in MCR that was affordable, had good veggie options and a more casual atmosphere) and Crafty Pig exceeded my expectations in every way!
The food was great, the pizza I had was especially delicious, they accommodated any dietary requirements and everyone enjoyed their meals. There were so many drinks to choose from compared to other bottomless options in MCR and the cocktails really hit the spot. The service is what really brought it all together and made it perfect though - some of us were late due to issues with transport but they were super accommodating / understanding and the food and drinks were fast. Nobody was without a drink at any point and this is probably why I also can’t remember our amazing server’s name (so so sorry) but can definitely remember the cool acrylic nails if that helps management give their employee some well-deserved credit, serious kudos for employing such a gem. All of the staff in general were really sound.
Overall the experience was such good value for money and we would definitely do it again. Couldn’t recommend more to anyone thinking about booking and cheers crafty pig for making my birthday so enjoyable this year - the hangover is...
Read moreI remember this place when it was Joe's Bar now its crafty pig and have to say its been done up well I specially like the TV sports booths the place is big and open . The staff are friendly enough but have to say they do not go out of their way . I would love to have seen . Hello how are you today or have you been hear before / or about the weather / where you off to today etc . you are more likely to get returning customers if you have great bar staff who have a smile and chat it was not overly busy when I was in the staff was not rushed off their feet . That said it's a nice place to have a drink I noticed some wacky beer taps . I decided to order Cluck it up loaded Sub At 9 pound and it comes with fries think the price is a bit steep. More round the 7 pound mark when it arrived I have to say it was disappointing it was very fatty inside not much within the way of chicken so I left it don't think I will be ordering food again. But to pop in for a drink . Its in a good location at the bottom of Oldham street manchester right on top of the shops and the bus stops are right outside. being town you are likely to get some characters hanging around at night so good to know security and the police are on hand . Would I recommend this place yes . As it OK but no...
