BrewDog Milton Keynes – a shockingly poor experience from start to finish
Our visit to BrewDog Milton Keynes yesterday with a larger group was disappointing on every level — from service to food quality, nothing lived up to what you’d expect from a brand that claims to stand for craft beer culture and solid casual dining.
Service: Unfriendly, untrained, unprofessional From the moment we walked in, there was no greeting, no sense of welcome. The staff came across as disinterested, overwhelmed, and clearly untrained. No explanation of the concept, no recommendations, no initiative — we had to actively ask for everything. Even then, replies were reluctant, curt, and borderline rude. Guests seem to be treated more as an inconvenience than as valued customers.
Organisation: Disorganised and inefficient Despite only moderate occupancy, wait times for both drinks and food were excessively long. Nobody provided explanations or updates, and there was no attempt to make up for the delays through friendly service or goodwill gestures. The entire operation felt sloppy and disjointed.
Food: Unacceptable and unsafe The chicken burger was inedible — clearly old meat, rock-hard and bone-dry after frying. The so-called “salad” was a quartered iceberg lettuce with a brown, unappetising core left on the plate. After we complained, the dish was reluctantly taken back, but the dirty plates were left on our table for the rest of the meal.
We ordered a cheeseburger instead, which was just as disappointing: cold, unmelted cheese, patties cooked inconsistently (one rare, the other well-done), and meat of dubious quality with an overpowering, off-putting smell.
To top it all off, we found bits of plastic or paper in the guacamole — a basic food safety issue that should never happen in any restaurant, let alone one with BrewDog’s brand promise.
BrewDog Milton Keynes failed completely: poor food quality, dismal service, organisational chaos, and a concerning disregard for basic food safety. The entire concept and kitchen operation urgently need a serious overhaul. In its current state, this location is not fit for purpose — I strongly advise looking elsewhere if you value good food and...
Read moreI’m fairly new to the area and very much enjoy going to a BrewDog but one of the staff members made the visit a disappointment. The cocktail offer and lunch deal are certainly reasons to visit again. The guy in the over shirt was really rude. This was not my first experience of his rudeness, but previously I assumed he was having a bad day. He just seemed to not want to be there. I asked questions about the beers on tap and he didn’t know about the beers nor willing to give a taster when I asked as they had run out of glasses which didn’t make sense(surely any glass would work). I asked about cocktails on the buy one get one free offer, and he just pointed to the fridge without telling me what these were, I later found the cocktail list in the menu that was available from the bar. When I paid I hadn’t noticed the tip screen and he was really abrupt in telling me look at the device. When the other staff served me they were very clear and friendly in advising me of the tip screen before tapping my card, which I was very happy to leave a tip. The other two staff on shift, were really helpful and friendly. These two were always engaged with other customers and were very busy whilst the other guy stayed at an empty bar. On the whole a relatively good night out but just let down by one person. The quiz was a great laugh and we’ll certainly be back for it. I also spoke to manager on shift who was able to provide information on booking a corporate...
Read moreBooked in advance, arrived 5 minutes early, yet someone was sat at our table. Cue 3 or 4 minutes of staff browsing table reservation signs looking for somewhere to shove us. Waitress then pretty much ordered us chicken wings as we sat down, but we asked for some time to actually view the menu- (albeit it's barely worth perusing; there's nothing on it apart from burgers or chicken wings) she would be back "in a couple of minutes". 20 minutes later, after speeding past half a dozen times, we finally managed to catch her eye (and couldn't help but notice the old sauce stains splashed up the impossible to clean modernist blockwork walls as we waited). We now realised it was "Wings Wednesday" but after her initial excitement, it was broken to us that this was only for those who were part of some sort of secret club. As we did not know the menu days before we came, we were barred from taking part. Nevertheless I ordered regular chicken wings from a part of the menu that was actually available to us lesser-informed plebs. Needless to say KFC have othing to worry about. Sickly sweet, lacking in flavour, seemingly unseasoned but instead doused in spice, perhaps to distract from the lack of meat. Saved from 1* only by serving a decent pint of 5am Saint. I would not recommend at all, and I'm a shareholder, so this review hurts me in...
