Super excited to try a pure vegetarian Dosa place in MK. Location is great, Parking is easy, seating is ok but sofa seats were really badly stained.
Food looks ok and looks fairly decent but the taste is average and incredibly overpriced. A lot of the food had a overpowering vinegar smell or too much ginger. Some items like Flooda were not on the menu we asked why and was told ‘they don’t serve on a Sunday’ - bit odd but there you go. Chole Bhatura - bhatura is very nice, chole have come straight out of a tin was too watery and very hard it did not have authentic flavour for South Indian cuisine. Chilli paneer - didn’t need extra green chilli on it has a strong vinegar after taste, paneer pieces cut way too small and had too much food colouring. Methu vada - not crispy and a bit dry on the inside it was almost cake like. Masala dosa - dosa was ok, potato stuffing was too oily, green chutney has way too much mint. Veg biryani - over powering on spice and way too oily the taste was like too much biryani seasoning was used. I did like the Raita.
Portion sizes are ok we were told you can get more sambar if you ask. Food is very over priced for what it is.
Staff: You need to improve your work ethics. Especially in-front if customers. Staff are friendly and polite whilst serving. However, we asked for drinks and cutlery from one server and on his way back he started to serve another table and we had to then call another staff member. It wasn’t even busy so you can’t say they were rushed off there feet. Eventually our drink was brought out. We put this down to place being new but come on these are basics.
Lady cleaning table was using some super strong smelling cleaning spray which puts you off whilst you eat.
Had to wait a long time for spoons and forks. The napkins on the table were very dirty obviously people eating with hands have touched other napkins - easily done. But each cutlery tumbler should be cleaned n re stocked not left dirty or empty.
Not sure why they serve adults food in kids bright yellow plastic plates - not appetising at all.
Feedback for staff: The place wasn’t busy so it might of been nice to ask if customers were ok and if they needed anything else - it’s better than standing like statues and it would help build a rapport.
You do seem to be chasing cash tips. To check the receipt wallet for money at the customers table is a bit lame and extremely unprofessional, to then go running to the counter to tell every staff ‘they have not tipped’ is very rude and highlights your agenda you were embarrassed when you got caught out. Also not sure why staff inc men have extremely long nails is that hygienic in a restaurant? We would of left a tip on our way out at you bar counter as we wanted to speak to management about similar chains they know to just build rapport and bantar but after what we saw we were not best pleased so we didn’t and walked away. Funny thing is you have have already added a 10% service charge on the bill, then added VAT on top of that 10%! So you were tipped £10! Lol When you brought my change out you also gave us less money but we didn’t argue over 30/40p - it’s the principle that again something so basic you got wrong.
A place that has great potential but needs a lot of attention in basics.
A good try because it’s new. But will not be returning nor recommending. If your looking for better taste and service t for dosa try Dosa Street or Talk n Tikka...
Read moreGOT ALLERGIES? AVOID! LONG ONE BUT PLS READ - We dined here yday for a celebration and regardless of staff not asking if we had allergies prior to ordering. I asked the waitress whether my allergens were present, she said she knew one chutney had it but she wasn't sure on the others. So I had to prompt her to go ask the chef and confirm with me after. Starters arrived and she hadn't come back to us on it. We asked her whether she had checked, she panicked and rushed to go ask. In the meantime I avoided chutneys but ate other items as you know its best while hot. She came back and said my allergen was present in the sambar. I ofcourse was fuming as I had eaten it as she suggested it would be fine! Manager came and apologised and said staff are all briefed daily on allergens which seems to be utter BS as he also said she was confused by my Q regarding allergens. She thought it was just the dosa (mains) i was asking about even though it was the condiments which are served with some starters too! Like where is the common sense!! With the mains every member of my family was served besides me for 14 mins after - yes I kept count. No one felt the need to communicate this delay so we thought they had forgotten my meal. You'd expect if they had already made a mistake with starters they would take extra measures with communication and service!! I sent it back as my entire family had eaten their food already. Call me fussy but that is basic standard service or communicate if otherwise! I cannot believe the absolute lack of knowledge and care with allergies, since eating here I've been extremely unwell. The manager apologies but how does an apology stop me from having this allergic reaction?!?! Do they need a customer to be on the floor for them to realise how life threatening and crucial it is to ACTUALLY train your staff. These types of staff including the manager should NOT be in the food industry! One day it will end even worse!
Besides this the service in general is awful, staff are confused when even ordering a coke. Medu vada are stodgy and dry. Just avoid and go to a competitor please. Dining here is a complete risk to life! I have huge regrets now that I am suffering...
Read moreWe drove an hour to visit this restaurant. Excited it's in a prime location and excited about the menu. The restaurant did not reflect the prices and not something you expect in the location We struggled with so much choice on the menu. Ordered our food. The starters came out without serving spoons and they did not look appetising and quite average in taste. Poppadoms came out on a yellow plastic plate with no added chutneys. We found a hair on the plate and hair on the pappadum. The waitress did change it. She appeared to struggle managing the top floor on her own, running from table to table sometimes mid service.
We ordered chilli paneer and then ordered a paneer manchurian dosa. When the dosa arrived it was nothing like a dosa and was cut up pieces of the pancake with chilli paneer stuffed In it.
We questioned it was the same dish. The waitress said no it doesn't have peppers or chilli's in it. I argued it was exactly the same. We have already had the chilli paneer and didn't want it in dosa.
She then agreed to change it. She did offer to leave the dish on the table. We declined. We were expecting a different dish. Not sure how the same dish can be named twice on the menu in different ways.
The other dishes were average and the mains did not come out together. We had to wait whilst 2 of our party had nearly finished.
The sambhar waw very weak and the chutneys were not nice at all.
This morning my husband has woken up with a stomach upset. We were very disappointed with the whole experience, Sadly we would not visit again.
The prices are too high for the quality of the food. We still paid the service charge despite all these issues.
We would be happy to pay these prices of the food, quality and whole ambience was worth it.
I will avoid unisex toilets, however my children needed to use the facilities and they discovered a can of chick peas under the sink.
It appears no research has been done before opening this restaurant. I would advise you visit other restaurants to experience the quality people are...
