( Honest Review) We came from Northamptonshire as guests for the grand opening of Sankelp Restaurant. The menu was full of lots of choices and we were very spoilt for choice and the design of the restaurant was very stylish, the staff were well dressed and very polite, but this is where it stopped unfortunately. We ordered 2 x punjabi Samosas, one chicken vindaloo, jeera rice, lamb madras, chicken massalla and masalla fries where my son ordered a cheese Dosa, we asked for it to be all brought out at the same time, my sons Dosa came out straight away, in which he started to tuck in and enjoy then randomly a portion of chips and a portion of rice we then waited 25 minutes for the curry's to come out by that time the rice and the chips were freezing cold, everything seemed to be un-arranged in the kitchen as in timings for everything, we were basically eating cold side dishes with hot food on top, as conisours of Indian food, my wife had to pick a lot of things out of her food to enjoy it, as in too many Bay leafs, coriander etc, it was like the chef showed no consideration or love for their food preparation/ presentation. Considering this was the grand opening and there was bound to be some mistakes, the food wasn't consistent, the chicken was dry and wasn't enough sauce in the curry itself. The prices on the menu doesn't compare to the rest of The B.I.R British Indian Restaurant prices for a family of 4 you would normally pay £15 per person, at Sankelp Restaurant our bill came to £86.65 pence which was half price it should of came to £173.00+ If I paid full price for this meal I wouldn't of been very happy. It was nice to see our fellow friend working there, but as we travel round the UK to find the best indo/Chinese restaurants to eat at this was not going to be a very memorable place. For a restaurant to this standard to remain open they need to change the prices of the menu, reflecting the prices in the area. Train the chefs so that all the food comes out together and not send out half the food without the main crucial part of the dinner the curry's itself, train the staff so they know what's in the curry. And giving the food to the correct person who ordered it, assigning a waitess/ waiter to the person who ordered the food in the...

Read moreSankalp Indian Restaurant- Milton Keynes. I visited on the 29/08/2024 in the evening at 6pm. Plenty of parking directly outside. Difficult to find the entrance if you don’t know the area. The restaurant is based on the 1st floor and the entrance door is round the corner by the Peri Peri shop. Sankalp has a disabled lift for wheelchair users and less able people. When you get upstairs it is spacious with lots of seating. Not the best decor but it was okay. Vimal served us who was very polite, friendly and helpful. I did not order too much as it was the first time I was visiting. I will rate the food out of 10:
Papri Chaat - 10/10, one of the best chaats I have had in the UK. Very fresh, tasty and a good portion size. The sauces tasted very nice as well. Good presentation.
Masala Dosa - 10/10, large portion, great filling of spiced potatoes and vegetables which I liked, nice and crispy batter. Very tasty. Much better than Crispy Dosa next door.
Vegetable Pilau - 10/10, large portion and well presented (I had already eaten some then taken a picture of the dish, apologies). First time I’ve actually liked Pilau rice at a restaurant. It was very nice and glad I ordered this.
Overall the food was fantastic and so was the service. The food is much nicer than Crispy Dosa, Dipna Anand’s Kitchen, Maaya Indian Kitchen and Namji. Excellent customer service. Even the young lady bringing out our food was very friendly and polite. Very reasonably priced, in fact cheaper than other Indian restaurants in the area. The decor does not do this place justice and I would highly recommend to try Sankalp. Will most definitely visit again. Definitely a hidden gem. 5 stars all the way. Thank you to Vimal and to all the staff for the great...
