Had a Group outing where there was 9 of us, and we decided to try Parrilla out as it is fairly new. Whilst we waited for our table a few of us ordered drinks from the bar, which were good. The waitress indicated that the table was ready, then said they needed to do something so we waited an additional 5-10 minutes. Once sat down on the first mezanine we noticed that due to the “ambient lights” it was very hard to see, and simple things like viewing the menu were difficult. We asked if they could turn the main lights on, even at a low level to try and alleviate the issues. This was not done. When it came time to order the food, the order whilst vast was quite simple. We had ordered a carpaccio, 3 bone marrows’s two empanadas and a calamari. This was brought to the table without issue and was delicious. When it came time for the mains however, there was a serious issue. We had ordered several mains including 3 Tomahawks, all of them medium rare, one with chimmichurri, another with peppercorn and one with both. We asked if the portion size for the chips was the same as the other smaller steak options but were assured it is a larger portion. This was not true. It arrived in the same basket as the other mains ordered. When the tomahawks arrived, it had turned out that the server/waiter whilst confirming the order correctly, brought the wrong steak out. Of the three, one was medium rare, the other two were medium, and we had asked if that was correct and he insisted that it was what we had ordered. The tomahawk ordered with two sauces came with none. And one of the two “medium” was actually medium well by the time it was cut.
This was due to the server being unable to cut the tomahawk, both due to poor form and a blunt knife. Absolutely butchering the cuts before serving. The server went back to the kitchen, not to rectify the steaks but to get another knife. On his return, he cut the steaks all on one side of the table and then brought them over to where they should have been in the first place.
Our initial drinks order of pina colada mocktails were served in the correct mocktail glasses, however when we ordered a second round they were brought in the mojito glasses, full of ice, and with genuinely one sip they were finished. We were not pleased. This was rectified by the waitress who took our initial order by bringing another round on the house, for 3 people out of the 5 ordered on the second round.
The triple cooked fries were nice, the only medium rare tomahawk we received as enjoyable, the carpaccio was standout in addition to the bone marrow. However, the bread served with the marrow was small, hard as a rock and easily ruined it due to being so poor. Each additional starter had only two items (empanadas) and the calamari had three pieces.
The cheesecake dessert was a let down, it tasted cheap and was definitely bought from a whole sales. The apple empanadas were enjoyable, but the creme brûlée tart was nothing to write home about.
All in all, our total was over £720, and unfortunately due to the piss poor attitude of the server, it’s not somewhere we’d be in a rush to return to. Even though the majority of our evening...
Read moreWe had a company dinner (40+ people) so we had to preorder. And we DID from the Christmas set menu. We contacted the restaurant a few weeks beforehand if they could cater for gluten and dairy free diet. It was confirmed that they could if we preinform them about the chosen dish. We did. Then, after waiting for a ridiculously long time at the table, finally, the soup came. It was gluten and dairy free because they left the bread (gluten) and cream (dairy) out.... but not using alternatives. My soup looked plain, half done.... (Please see the photo of the normal soup, then the gluten and dairy free soup) After the starter came, they just put a mushroom medley in front of me with a lovely roll, but when I confirmed it with the waiter, I was told that it was a mistake and took it away. Later, I got a new plate without the roll, and I was told no roll for me as I asked for gluten-free. Hm... you don't make gluten-free food leaving it without the ingredients.... you make the food with alternative ingredients, so it ends up being a whole dish, not a half dish. So I asked them what I could expect as dessert.... as if you leave dairy and gluten out of a cheesecake what left? The decorations of the plate???? I emailed them with my order that any dessert is fine from their Christmas set menu if they could be made gluten and dairy free, they all sounded awesome. And I was expecting a Christmas pudding or Cheesecake. After my question, one of the waitresses came over to me to inform me that they only have LEMON SORBET for my diet (of course it wasn't any of the set menu desserts), and if it was OK? Told them I was disappointed because they were totally unprepared even though we emiled them weeks before. She said she would call the manager. Another guy came over to me to offer me the same lemon sorbet... so I got really upset and told them that was not good enough and told them that at the corner there is an orange supermarket chain where they can buy lots of non dairy and nongluten food, and they definitely should do that. In the end, I was served VEGAN vanilla Icecream. I'm utterly disappointed even though the food i got was very tasty. But this kind of no customer service/miscommunication just destroyed the food. I'm sick and tired of restaurants don't think a food allergy is as important, and I should be happy with half of the dish every time and call it gluten/dairy free. If you can't cater for food allergies, just say it....
Read moreVery poor first time experience. I ordered the 400g sirloin rare. Once it eventually arrived I could tell there was going to be an issue. One half of it must've been 2 inches thick and it then went down to probably about 2cm thick at the other end. One end was barely 'blue' and still stone cold in the centre and the other end was medium. I waited for the waiter to return with the sauces (which took over 5 minutes for them to arrive) to say something but he didn't return so I walked back towards the pass and handed it to a waiter saying I wanted this remade with a more even piece of meat and actually cooked rare.
He then came back to my table to apologise (no offer of a complimentary drink whilst I waited) and I reiterated id like an entirely new steak. He confirmed this. 10 minutes later the same steak I sent back arrived and to my surprise, unevenly cooked. I said I asked for a new one and the same waiter pleaded ignorance to this. I said Im spending £45 on a steak, id like it cooked properly and asked for a new one.
As it took so long to serve us in the first place, had we actually waited for the remake my friend and I wouldn't make our next thing on time so I told them not to bother. They didnt offer to let me come back another time etc or offer a chance to make it right. They took my steak off the bill but that was it in way...
