This pub is the diamond of Newark. No, not a good range of beers, a comprehensive range. There's quality well kept cask, draught, bottle and tins with a strong emphasis on craft beer. There's cheap local descent guest beer right through to exotic Belgian abbey beer. Most had a drink in price and a sensible take away price. I was surprised to find a good cheeseboard on the bar for me to help myself. Not good enough? Read on... The pub will allow and even welcome you to order a takeaway or bring your own food. To assist, there's a rack of menus from the nearby takeaways. We had pizza delivered to the front right room.

I recently visited this place to celebrate a birthday. Initially, I felt like it was very stuffy and there was no air to breathe, but I got used to it with time. Air-conditioning is missing tho. Mexican food was well nice and very reasonable, beer was excellent and the service and staff were very good. Atmosphere wasn't great but it was 5pm on a Monday so can't blame them for that! This was the last of three work visits to Newark and I'm very annoyed that we went to other pubs/restaurants for food on the first two, this place was way better. Would definitely recommend.
