This time I wasn't alone, but had a fantastic special lunch with a friend. We had Chicken Gyros and Stifada with Facaccia bread and Salt and Oregano chips. Cappuccino and Latte and just couldn't resist trying the apple pie and custard. Chicken Gyros is understandable very popular. Very tasty and you can close your eyes and imagine the Mediterranean nearby. The Stifada (a Greek beef stew) was warming and oh so tender. Dipping the facaccia allowed me to savour the flavours. Not naming names, but our server was patient, friendly and so helpful as I put most of my menu selection in her hands. She surely was the light of the North her name suggests. A great place to spent time eating good Mediterranean food in a Greek corner of Newark's Market Square. Whether it's a light lunch or something more, I am sure.you will be pleased, and return again and again.

Stopped here for coffee and food. But the vegan food range here was quite small so didn't end up ordering food unfortunately. But I had a Greek coffee, which I had never tried before and was pleasantly surprised, did enjoy it and it was served with water, I don't know if that was intentional. The Greek coffee has a lot of coffee grounds at the bottom, which I believe is normal for it. Also ordered a flat white with oat milk which was also good quality. The service here was very good, has a lovely lady serving us. We sat inside but wished we were given the option of outside because it is quite cramped inside. But overall good experience

A great place for a quick bite or a proper meal. Great choice of meals, snacks, desserts and drinks for reasonable prices however not so many vegan options offered. I definitely recommend flavoured teas and sandwiches. The food was tasty, done quickly. The staff was very welcoming, friendly, helpful. Despite I came less than an hour before closing I was served and not rushed. Plenty of tables upstairs in case if the weather is not great, nice interior. Great location. I will definitely be back.

I was very disappointed when I went for lunch with friends. I ordered a strawberry milkshake and a BLT on bloomer bread. The strawberry milkshake tasted like it was just strawberry syrup put into the milk and blended which wasn't great but the sandwich was very poor. It came on brown sliced bread rather than a bloomer and when I spoke to the male staff member I was told that it was bloomer and it had just been cut thinner and it was how it came from the shop. My interpretation on bloomer it white chunky bread! The filling was mostly tomato and had very little flavour and there was no mayonnaise. I spoke to a different member of staff (another male with dark hair) and asked for some mayonnaise and he said that it was 40p extra... the brown sandwich was already £6.95 I won't be going back here, which is really sad. I much prefer to eat and drink at independent cafes but the customer service and being told something that I know is untrue, is wrong. They should have offered me a different option and surely on a sandwich like that, it should come with a small pot of mayonnaise...

We were on a road trip to Newark for the afternoon. It was very suprising that tuesday afternoon 90% of the restaurants/bars are closed. The town was dead. This place was open, we arrived 45 minutes before the official closing time. The lady said the kitchen is closed already, (why... nevermind, ok) we can have only coffe or whatever is on display. I felt that we not so welcome, so I told her we order coffe and some cakes, we will be quick and be out before closing. She said no probs. We sat down, having our cakes, and the next minute, a person came out from behind the wall, and stared at us on a way like "god sake...what the .... are you doing here". Probably the gentleman was the dishwasher, he was bringing the clean dishes in a basket. He looked very upset, he had to wash 5 more items on that "busy" day. Otherwise the place was alright, if they would hide their hate towards us, the rating could be 5 star, even if it wasn't something special. But now it is memorable because that was the most unprofessional (and funny) gesture we experienced in english...

We visited this restaurant on Tuesday 29th April sitting outside enjoying the afternoon sun. Had a drink and decided to on a light bite. I was served a chicken gyro which was nice but the entire visit was spoiled when my wife was served a stale tea cake. She did want her tea cake toasted just plain and when it arrived she spread on the butter before tasting as normal only to find the item was stale. We asked for it to be replaced but this was refused. They offered to “warm” it up for us which was unacceptable. We asked to speak to the manager who we found abrupt in her manner and treated us with total contempt. Her words were.”you shouldn’t have put the butter on it, we can’t do anything with it” she also refused to remove the item from the bill. Now the tea cake costs only £3.75. It’s not the money but the principle that the restaurant served a sub-standard item with no intention of replacing it for something edible. We won’t bother returning and I had to smile when the couple on the next table decided not to order food having heard how poor the staff...
