Desserts from Hell!
Absolute shambles, worst experience and I will certainly not be returning.
We were the only customers there - table of 4 and wanted to go somewhere nice to celebrate a birthday.
Firstly I was horrified by the condition of the rest room. The toilets had not been cleaned for goodness knows how long and I almost threw up of how disgusting it was.
Next we asked the waiter if they had any San Sebastián cheesecake and he replied with ‘I’ll see if there is any defrosted’
He never returned.
The staff had no interest in taking our order and we had to call them over after nearly 20 mins of waiting.
We eventually placed our order of 4 desserts, drinks and water. The mocktails arrived and it just tasted like water with a dash of sweetener. It was awful. We told the waiter and they went away to remake our drinks.
Whilst we were waiting the desserts arrived which were poor quality and you could tell they just put the San Sebastián cheesecake in the microwave to defrost. It was watery and not very pleasant.
The 2nd attempt of the mocktails finally arrived after we finished our dessert and it wasn’t much better and I got the impression the staff do not know how to make the drinks.
We were still waiting for water and despite asking about 3 times. The water finally arrived as we were ready to go.
I honestly don’t know who employed these staff as they are absolutely clueless and have no idea how to prepare the food, drinks, how to dress or have any customer service skills. This is meant to be a luxury dessert parlour but staff were dressed in hoodies and trainers which is not a good look for a dessert parlour of this nature.
The waiter was also rude when we paid our bill. No please no thank you no nothing. His attitude was appalling.
I will 100% not be returning to this establishment as the service does not live up...

Late-Night Waffle Craving on a Sunday
It was a quiet Sunday evening when my wife had a craving for waffles. We headed to Heavenly Desserts (HD) in Newcastle around 8 PM. Luckily, The Gate car park is right next to the place, which made access super easy.
📍 Location:
Unit 2A Newgate St, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 5RE Open daily from 12 PM to 12 AM.

🧇 Royale - American Waffle (£9.50)
This waffle was crispy on the outside and soft inside, exactly what we wanted. The only drawback was the overwhelming amount of chocolate, which masked the other flavours. I’ll probably try a different one next time with a better balance. Rating: 9/10
⸻
🍹 Watermelon Mojito (£4.50)
This was the biggest disappointment of the evening. For a brand as well-known and premium as Heavenly Desserts, I expected something fresh, flavourful, and well-crafted. Instead, this mojito tasted flat—honestly, not even as good as an off-the-shelf mojito from Asda.
It really made me question whether HD had actually tasted or tested this item before putting it on the menu. For the price, it felt like a poorly thought-out addition that doesn’t match the brand’s usual quality. Rating: 1/10

👥 Staff & Experience
Only a couple of staff were on duty—understandable for a late Sunday night—but they looked visibly tired and the energy was low. It made me wonder if the late closing hours (until midnight) are sustainable without compromising service.

📝 Final Thoughts
Will I return? Yes—for the waffles. But the mojito was a letdown, and I hope the brand reviews that item seriously. HD sets a high expectation, and drinks like this don’t live up to it. Still, it’s worth visiting for a sweet treat—just...
Read moreI’ve been to the Manchester and Birmingham branches of Heavenly Desserts with no issues, but the Newcastle branch is an absolute disaster. The service is shockingly poor. While the waiter did ask about allergies and provided my vegan sister with the specific vegan menu, the execution was awful. She explicitly asked for pistachios to be removed from her dessert, yet it still came covered in them.
The macarons I ordered were stale—completely unacceptable. I’ve had better quality from supermarkets. To make matters worse, they were drenched in chocolate sauce and more pistachios, none of which were shown in the menu photos. If you’re going to add random toppings, at least advertise it so customers can request changes. I outright refused to pay for this and asked for it to be taken off my bill. I ended up leaving without eating any dessert—completely disappointed with the Newcastle branch.
This is now the THIRD time my order has been wrong at this location. The incompetence and lack of care are ridiculous. It’s nothing like the other branches, and the inconsistency is frustrating beyond words.
If you’re coming from out of town, avoid this branch and head to Kaspas on the next street or Creams down the road. Save yourself the...
