Food ok, shame about the fact they have 0 accessibility, when we spoke to the manager about this, they were extremely rude, telling us that "no-one forced you to come". It's a shame that we've now lost a vegan restaurant to go to due to 1 persons horrible attitude.
As you can't respond to the response, I feel like it's important to put in an edit, especially when they've lied about you being abusive to staff. You claim that you can't have a ramp put in, but you could have a simple temporary ramp that is kept near the entrance of the cafe. I'm not sure how you get wheelchair users in without them being humiliated, either by being forced to be carried or by having to crawl up the steps, but again, thus wasn't about your lack of accessibility, it was the lack of any compassion for people. We've been 2 times now, and both times no-one has even bothered to apologise, neither me nor my partner expect you to put in a permanent ramp if the council has told you it isn't possible, but what we do expect is you to at least understand that this is upsetting.
Instead, you've excused something we didn't ask for, told us that no-one forced us to come and then lied about our behaviour...
Read moreCompletely inaccessible and the manager was incredibly rude, making very clear that they did not want disabled customers. They pretend to care about behaving ethically, but veganism is about doing as little harm as possible. This is not achieved by refusing to treat disabled people as human beings. I have before mentioned the lack of a ramp, and nothing has been done so, on this occasion, I asked what their inaccessibility discount was, as I have to crawl up the stairs, and cannot use their toilets because the stalls are too small, and so am clearly not getting the same treatment as other customers. I didn’t seriously expect them to give me any money off, though it would have been entirely warranted, but I did hope that it might draw their attention to a serious issue that they have been merrily neglecting. Nor, however, did I expect their actual response which was to tell me that no one had forced me to come. Disabled people are allowed to access society. It is completely unreasonable to expect us to just stay at home so no one need bother to ensure that we can get in. We will not be...
Read moreThis was my first time visiting the cafe on Saturday 2nd September 2017. We had booked a table but it had been given away even though we arrived early (a booking system or at least some communication between staff is needed to avoid this in future). We had booked a table and explained one of our party would be in a wheelchair however when we arrived there were 3 steps at the entrance and no ramp - luckily my husband was able to safely get the wheelchair up the stairs but this should have been mentioned when booking. When we were eventually seated (our table for 6 was given to 2 people and when they left we were able reclaim it) we ordered around 1pm (our table was booked for 12pm) and we did not receive our food order for another 50 minutes. It's a nice place but there is a distinct lack of communication between staff and between those that take the orders and those in the kitchen. I was disappointed with my experience. Also the toilets are in another building and would not be...
