Lynbay Fish & Chips Shop Restaurant & Takeaway — Restaurant in North Devon

To be fair the food was excellent, however the quality of service was extremely poor.

We ordered normal fish and chips and three gluten free fish and chips… I do appreciate it can take a little longer for cooking due to the gluten free options, but 50 minutes is too long to wait, I asked how long we would have to wait after 25 minutes and was told we were just waiting for the chips.

When the family on the next table who also had ordered gluten free got their meals before us I decided to ask again and was told it was taken longer due to our food belong gluten free and we would have to wait longer because the two orders were mixed up with the other families who ordered at a separate time to ourselves. I was told by the manager that I could wait or leave it, in other words the service was incredibly poor quality and the staff were rude.

After 50 minutes we got our meals with £10 taken off the bill, all we wanted was to enjoy our food and experience of eating out as this is only the second time of us eating out in the last two years.

This was an insult to be honest as they obviously don’t want to have a good customer loyalty, it is very sad as we went there 3 years ago while on holiday in the area and were really looking forward to going back again and this has totally spoiled our experience with Lynbay Fish...

Had fish & chips and a kebab at Stowford Farm Meadows on 27/08/2023. The female staff were extremely rude and arrogant. We arrived at 8.45pm and by the time we got your the front of the queue we were told that they were closed because one on their serving hatches had been put down (how were we to know that???). The gentleman however said that he could serve us and was very kind to everyone in the queue. We ordered fish & chips and a kebab. We didn't have to wait too long, but the man infront of us had been waiting for an hour. We got back to our caravan and unwrapped our food. The chips were soggy, the fish batter was undercooked, and the kebab meat was frazzled. It was topped up with chopped up beefburgers! Unbelievable!!!! LYNBAY, you should be ashamed of yourselves. We have been to your shop in Ilfracombe many times and your food has been amazing. But your mobile food is disgusting, and your female staff's attitudes are vile and rude. You are a disgrace to your business owner. However, the gentleman was a professional and honest person. We will never buy from you again!!...

We were here on a sunny Sunday afternoon. We decided to have takeaway. We went in to order, 4 members of staff larking around not at all friendly too busy chatting to each other. I did want a jumbo sausage but the ones in the top box looked dreadful so I had cheesy chips husband had cod and chips to my horror that was £17.00. We were asked to wait outside it seemed to take ages. At least 15 mins if not longer. We took our takeaway to eat on a bench and enjoy the sun and view. Well all I can say is the food was horrible. My cheesy chips were soggy the cheese was a big lump. I had asked for salt and vinegar didn't taste anything. The cod and chips batter soggy and chips pale and again soggy nothing crispy on the meal at all. Very disappointing. We are not visitors we live in the area. I feel sorry for holiday makers being ripped for this food. Tourist places need to understand its not just about the money...
