Booked for lunch on a Saturday. Good job too! It was super busy Our lunches came out hot and quick, everything was delicious. We had kids mac & cheeses, fish and chips, pizza, burger, salad and chicken schnitzel. All were lovely. We nearly left and then remembered about the kids Ice creams which were included in the price (awesome!) 1 star down for the frosty young lady, I could tell she was trying to be helpful but she seemed like she was fed up of her job, I did also speak to another chap, whom I harassed a few times with questions such as “the kids fish fingers… are they proper pieces of fish or frozen ones-they are proper fish and very very good! And then found him again to ask about ice cream flavours, then again to order the Ice creams, I can’t remember his name but he had arm tattoos, very nice chap. The decor is very cool with surfboards, the location is just perfect, we nipped up from the beach, then headed straight back down 👌🏻

EDIT (1/5): Still a great venue for a drink, but food has massively gone downhill since this place has been bought out. Was previously fresh cooked but now is just generic, mass produced food that you can tell has just been taken out the freezer and thrown in a fryer. Hugely disappointing that this what this venue has become. Was a 5 star place and now I'd give it a 1. I think I'll only be stopping by for a drink from now on. Original review (was 5/5) = An absolute must visit every time I'm in north Devon. Great selection of beers, great food (the chicken burger is incredible) and a superb view over the beach. Lots of friendly staff and always a great atmosphere. They have live bands on every week too. Only criticism is that they really need to get some air-con installed! Definitely worth a visit.

Lovely pub by the seafront with great food and good selection of beer on tap. Reasonably priced given the location and food also has good options for vegans and vegetarians. The steak and tanglefoot ale pie was delicious, especially since staff were more than happy to swap the mash with chips (as pie should be served with). The calamari and white bait starters both taste great. The highlight was the chocolate and orange torte. I cannot believe this is vegan it tastes so delicious, especially with the honeycomb, ice cream and molasses its served with. Staff were all very friendly and chatty while the pub was quieter. Highly recommended if you feel too much of the sun while relaxing on the beach

Walked down to the beach today to walk the dogs as we are on holiday. Once we walked along the beach to putsborough and back popped into the Red Barn to get a snack and a drink. No snacks as wanted a toasted tea cake only to be told they didn’t serve them. Was offered cake but as my wife has an egg allergy this was not an option. It’s nice to see it’s been taken over and dogs are allowed inside at last. Staff was very friendly and the young lady offered my wife a vegan cheese cake which had no egg. All staff we spoke to was very polite and helpful.
