Hop House — Restaurant in Northern Ireland

Had sharing platter here today with friends. Our 4th visit, our friends 1st visit, on our recommendation. It was good but not as good as usual. Very disappointing for us as we had highly recommended this place to our friends. It seems they changed chef just a few days ago. That might explain why not so good this time. Smaller portions and no roast beef. No roast beef ....on a Sunday!! The place was buzzing because of the flea market outside and upstairs, which was great to see but what spoiled the experience for us today was the singer in the bar. While she had a very good voice she was too loud for the small room. We were seated at a table directly in front of her and could hardly hear ourselves think never mind carry on a conversation. When out for lunch on a Sunday with friends it's conversation and good food we are looking for. If I want live music in a bar I normally go out on a Saturday night.! My husband and I will be back but hope the new chef does take into consideration what Hop House is renowned for.. it's very tasty and plentiful roast...

Was here on Friday night with my wife and we were unfortunate enough to witness 2 young women being verbally and physically abused by the door staff. They were sitting together chatting and were asked to leave the premises over someone being "cheeky" the week before. One girl said it was her first ever night in Bangor and was told in no uncertain terms to "GET OUT TO F*%K, reatedly, while being manhandled and squared up to. Even though they were leaving, and said as much, they were still pushed out repeatedly while being verbally abused with personal comments about their weight/appearance etc... What an absolutely disgusting experience for anyone to witness, or be on the receiving end of. And after speaking to the girl outside, who's first night it was in Bangor, (we left soon after), it turns out she is a school teacher. We recorded most of the event and are trying to find the girls involved for their approval to publish it online. I'm trying not to lower myself here, but it must be said. Your bouncers are absolute scumbags! Disgraceful isn't a strong...

Absolutely awful, one of the workers had the audacity to kick me out for apparently bringing in my own alcohol, then he was also selling alcohol to under 18s without ID, to finish off the person who served me was also the one who kicked me out for no reason, i tried to tell him but he concluded with i seen you drink the alcohol, even though i didn’t. Honestly the reviews may differ but the expierence had wasn’t particularly pleasing. That worker should be sacked for good. I can’t believe something like that would happen, i also rang their number to file a complaint it was then later procedded with the same person who gave me verbal abuse over the phone.
