We decided to go to Wolsey's for a reasonably priced spontaneous meal out. The waitress that seated us sounded bored and uninterested. When we had ordered drinks, my partner noticed that his cutlery was dirty and had to ask for it to be replaced, so things weren't off to a good start. We ordered starters - Breaded brie and the salted chilli chicken. It arrived very quickly, however the chef shouting "Service please!" across a relatively small restaurant every 5 minutes was quite off-putting. The salted chilli chicken was nice and a good sized portion for a started. The breaded brie was also a good size, however it was barely lukewarm when it arrived and very quickly turned completely cold. The brie inside the breadcrumbs was still mostly solid and so had clearly not been cooked properly as it wasn't melting as I would have expected. When the waiter came to take our empty plates, he appeared as uninterested as the first waitress. He didn't ask if everything was okay or if we enjoyed, which is something I've come to expect of every restaurant I've been in. In fact, I doubt he would have said anything if we hadn't said thank you to him, with which he replied a mumbled "thanks". For the main - Posh burger with sweet potato fries and Belly Buster burger with garlic skinny chips. Once again, it arrived quickly and was slightly warmer this time which was a bonus. However, both burgers were completely overcooked, dry, burnt and tasteless. The floury baps were dry and untoasted, seemingly like the came straight out of the packaging and onto my plate. The lettuce and tomato at the bottom of the burger was far to wet and soaked through the bottom bun making the burger fall apart and impossibly to hold. My partner's burger was exactly the same, burnt, tasteless and soggy. The garlic chips were rock hard and cold with a tiny bit of garlic butter covering about 5 chips in the middle of the dish and nothing else. The sweet potato fries were probably the nicest part of the dish but unfortunately were only lukewarm. Neither of us finished our meals as they were pretty much inedible. When we went up to pay, the waitress asked how our food was and we explained that we were very disappointed. She explained that they had just hired someone new and he was still getting used to things and they'd had complaints a few nights previously as well. She told us she would take 10% off our bill, which was a nice offer, but frankly saving £3 didn't make up for the inedible food. Complete waste of money. We could have saved £20 and gotten a better burger from McDonald's. Definitely will not be back and have been telling others of the awful food and service...

Used to be my regular place to go for food in Bangor but after my last 2 visits I won’t be back.

First visit my boyfriends food was sent out wrong, by the time it was sent out correct the rest of the table had finished. There was no apologies from the staff at all.

Second visit (yesterday), I asked for vegan pesto pasta as I have a milk allergy. When the food arrived, after a longer wait than usual, I knew there was milk in my dish before even tasting it, as it’s what I always order. ( very alarming that I was served milk after informing them of my serious allergy! ).

The waiter apologised and took my dish and it was replaced in 5 minutes. The replacement pasta was nothing like it usually is. No flavour. Oily. I didn’t eat it.

It was hard to catch the manager to complain, the poor waiter acted as an owl back and forth. We received 10% discount, but when we looked at the bill the pasta was still on it even though I hadn’t eaten it? I’ve worked as a waitress & manager before and thought this was ridiculous. The pasta was £13 on the bill. The discount turned out to be £7 something. When we asked the manager to take the pasta off he said “I’m going to have to take away the 10% discount then”. Worked out better to have the pasta that wasn’t touched taken off than a percentage of it.

Not great managerial skills, from a previous manager in the industry I think it was poorly handled.

I wasn’t asking for the whole tables bill to be covered or anything at all. It just seemed there was no sincere remorse or worry over the fact my serious allergy was ignored.

Hate that I won’t be back as this was my favourite place to eat in Bangor the...

Unfortunately wasted our boxing day dinner on this place. Waited an hour and half on our starters which was like dish water with three carrots in it. Which was supposed to be vegetable soup. The wheaten bread was sliced thinner than a razor. Fast forward another 45 mins after the starter came what was supposed to be a trio of meats with mash. The mash was freezing with warm meat put over the top to try mask the cold mash. We did how ever ask for the manager he was more than helpful and took the meals of the bill which weren't eaten and sent back. We politely asked to skip desert as everyone had had enough Since this place has been taken over I wouldn't recommend it to anyone the food is disgusting. What a waste of a boxing day it...

Absolutely some of the best food we've ever eaten! My boyfriend and I came for a meal this evening and were greeted with a lovely warm welcome from Ethan who served both our drinks and food. The service was 10/10, Ethan was so polite and friendly. We had squid and mac and cheese to start (both absolutely beautiful), followed by chicken and chorizo cajun pasta, and a ribeye steak. The steak was cooked to PERFECTION, it literally melted in your mouth, the best steak we've ever had for sure! We'll 100% be back if we're ever in Bangor again, 10/10 for everything, no faults whatsoever! Xx

Had Sunday lunch here and the Wolsey trio was a good choice lovely beef and ham, stuffed chicken was a bit dry but with everything else can’t really complain, then a nice piece of raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake like I needed it 🙄 It’s £17 for 1 course £19.95 for 2 and £23.95 for 3 Order a dessert even if your not hungry and take it home 👍🏻 for £2

Lovely food and staff. Great drinks menu! Great to go to as a bar. As a restaurant the food is lovely and service great but depending on times can be a bit busy with people drinking and loud obviously. Been for meals as a couple and in groups and food is consistent.
