Lots of style, little substance.

Two orders of: "fluffy house made crumpets - smokey bacon, maple syrup, toasted almonds & clotted cream"

Unless they are using the word fluffy ironically the description isn't fitting. The "crumpets" were dense failed pancakes, I suspect the concept of whisking is either alien or anathema. Terrible in every respect. Best imagined like the kind of pancakes your 4 year old daughter might attempt in kindergarten prior to ash wednesday.

The bacon was like an experiment in dehydrated pork. That is to say it was cold, hard, salty, and had attained a level of chewiness that is normally the dalliance of those who make jerky..

The portion of clotted cream did not of eimatch that of either bacon or the pseudo-pancakes.

Service was ok, hurried, but ok. To be honest, I was too embarrassed to tell the manager of "everything was ok" when I was paying.

Seating is sparse, and it takes a wee minute to get used to the somewhat recumbent school chairs. Additionally my wife was was really very cold because the fridges were spilling out significant amounts of cold air. Come prepared with a decent down jacket.

I'd be hard...

A small cafe but nice decor. We wanted to visit the deli but it is closed on a Monday.

We were placed at a table by the kitchen or the other option was closer to the bathroom (just a single disabled toilet).

Menu is OK, it’s nice they have vegan stuff. I asked for the soup and they later came back to tell me that it was sold out…at 12:17pm, which to me is just poor organisation to have no soup at that time! They were also out of another vegan dish too.

I had the vegan breakfast which was nice. A small portion but perhaps expensive for what you’re getting. My friend had the blueberry waffles which had to be sent back to the kitchen as they were too over cooked but were better on the second attempt.

A lot of their tray bakes and cakes are kept in the fridge which is a pet peeve of mine. There’s no reason for brownies to be refrigerated!! But it tasted ok once it was at room temp.

Staff were otherwise lovely.

You could hear heavy metal music being played in the kitchen despite more gentle, ambient music being played in the rest of the cafe.

Wouldn’t be rushing to go...

I was looking forward to eating here for a while but sadly it did not live up to expectations. There were 5 of us at a table which was quite small and low, we waited around 30-40 mins for our food, other tables of 2 were coming in after we ordered and their food came out before ours. The waiter politely informed us that there was a delay and food won’t be long. The eggs Benedict was the worst I’ve had, the streaky bacon was only cooked on one side on everyone’s meals and full of fat, the muffin was deep fried so when you bit into it oil spilled out. The waiter was very nice and service was good but the wait and food was a let down, they did take off the price of 2 coffees to apologise. I wouldn’t recommend for food maybe a nice place to meet a...
