My favourite brunch place in Norwich. Dog friendly, even inside, and a variety of gluten free and vegetarian options available. Very impressed by the range, from full english to pancakes to the specials menu. Portions are delicious and generous, and food is locally sourced with produce origins on display inside. The owner is an absolute hoot too, a real character. On my last visit, I enjoyed something new to the specials board - potato wedges with veggie chilli and cheese. Something a bit different from the usual breakfast selection and it didn’t disappoint! It was the perfect amount of heat. The coffee is from Strangers, and it’s also very good. Tea and amazingly decaf tea also available. There’s a small courtyard at the back which is wonderful in summer. Overall, a cosy brunch spot offering incredibly great value and excellent food.

We’ve been here many times over the years, however this is the first time we were disappointed. The food is delicious, we ordered the vegan breakfasts - asides from a heavy portion of plum tomatoes. We sat near the kitchen and it would seem that everything is cooked on the same grill so is not truly vegan (the hash browns next to the eggs), something we’d only noticed after eating. Furthermore a staff member was rather rude and brash. A cook we’d never encountered before made several rude remarks and interacted awfully with the younger team members. A shame to see as usually the other cook is very friendly, unsure if there are new owners?

Absolutely amazing. I had the large Gluten Free breakfast and the sausages and bacon were really nice, locally sourced too. Highly recommend this place. They serve strangers coffee too. The owner is hilarious, very honest but a real nice chap and the kitchen been in his family since 2015. He has a lot of passion for the place since taking over from his mum 4 years ago and whilst it looks a bit like a greasy spoon (it serves breakfasts, not sure how else it should look!) you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how good the food is

I’ve heard so many good things about The Unthank Kitchen over the years and was excited to go for breakfast the morning after our wedding. The coffee was brilliant, and the menu looked good. My breakfast was a little disappointing, so I didn’t eat much at all. This is really unusual for me- I’m a big eater and hate food waste. I ordered the vegan breakfast with egg. The hash browns were delicious and super crispy, and the mushrooms were good, but the rest disappointing. There was no vegan spread on the toast (this was listed on the menu) and the toast was a slice of crust (the piece I use at home when I’ve run out of proper slices). There was a hair in my egg yolk and the vegan sausage was made of claggy mashed potato. The icing on the cake was when a man who worked there came to get our plates. He asked me if I hadn’t liked it, gesturing at the leftovers, and I honestly explained. He was rude and defensive “we’ve run out of vegan spread” “it’s still a slice of bread”. There was no acknowledgement of the hair and no apology. He walked off before I felt we’d concluded our interaction. I’ve never experienced a lack of customer service like it. I would recommend spending your money elsewhere, anywhere they actually act like they can be bothered.

We went to The Georgian Townhouse the next day and it...

Worst customer service EVER! Went there Thursday morning, the guy didn't look up from what he was doing. He looked pissed off. We sat down and after 5 mins we had decided what we wanted and the guy still didn't even acknowledge we were even there despite my wife and I taking about our food choice and me even saying "So hungry!" After waiting a bit more we were beginning to get a bit peeved so I decided to get up and order at the counter. I stood there for 3 whole minutes which seemed like forever and it was now obvious he was ignoring us. We then decided to leave and as we were walking out he then started to get aggressive and said he was just cleaning. Totally unacceptable behaviour in front of my 18 month baby. 10 mins of my life I'll never get back. Whoever owns TUK, from biz owner to biz owner, I'd have a serious review of that staff member. Staff sabotage is insidious and I'll never be going back there again. I too would want to know if any of my staff was out of order like that. Shame as I heard the food is supposed to be good. Just looking at your other bad reviews, it seems all your 1 and 2 star reviews are about how rude...

Had a great experience in Norwich, couldn't fault it. Definitely will stay again for the culture and vipe. Then came the next morning. Staying in NR2 it deemed sensible to enjoy a breakfast local.

This was not so. Considering we arrived within 10 mins of opening the establishment was not overly clean,we sat at the table next to the serving counter covered in tobacco. Sweeping this to the floor we ordered food. Grumpy service, staff in dirty clothes and a fascination to the local football team over customers was sad to experience.

A large full English was ordered as well as a Spanish breakfast, over £30 in total. Coffee and food slammed on the table, full english was awful, cooked without care and way to fast. The Spanish breakfast.was just an assortment of what can I microwave quickly and serve looking like pet food.

How on earth this is a cafe is questionable. A Definitely avoid place for food full stop! left half of it and got out ASAP.

Definitely a don't go twice or even once...
