I'll start off by saying I've been here previously and recommended it to lots of people but unfortunately the service today has changed all of that. We originally sat in the conservatory but had to move after a very loud table arrived with lots of swearing in front of children. We ordered the 3 meat and the vegan roasts, I had the vegan and it was fine. My partner did not like the 3 meat, he tried a bit of everything on the plate but couldn't get on with any of it - the Yorkshires were incredibly crispy but then the bottom was uncooked, the green beans overdone etc. It is a large plate of food and it was a large plate of food after he had tried some of it. He took the plate to the bar and explained that he didn't like it and wanted a refund as he paid £21 for it. From where I was sitting I could see four staff behind the bar at the time and apparently not one of them had the sense to fetch the manager or practice good customer service. Supposedly he is the first person in the history of The Embankment to not like the food. Highly unlikely... The staff said they couldn't give him a refund as he had tried some of the food...?! I'll just leave that with you. So despite him clearly not even having had a quarter of it they refused even half the money back. He was offered a drink. He should have been offered £21 worth of drinks if anything. Understandly he was furious and we had to leave immediately. Let me say if I had of gone to the bar the outcome would have been entirely different, given that I have worked in hospitality for over 20 years and I was trained properly. If your staff do not know what to do with an unhappy customer then firstly train them to get the Manager immediately, secondly train them! I expect the Manager to get in touch with me and to offer the right outcome - a full refund. Needless to say I will no longer be recommending this place to people with dogs, or for the vegan food, or who want to walk and have a pub nearby. I'm a local and go in quite often for a drink so it really does go to show how detrimental bad service goes to your long-standing...

The Embankment is now my new favourite pub. Where do I start? Firstly it's a part of Nottingham history. Half of the building was one of the first dispensarys opened by Jesse Boot. The other half was a gentleman's club where Jesse Boot had his office. The office is still intact and forms part of a the upstairs function rooms (these do not form part of the public bar but are well worth a look if you get the chance.) It's run by the Castle Rock brewery and if you like the idea of choosing from lots of different real ales from a range of breweries before you even order then you will love the Embankment. The food is tasty and great value. I ordered a curry and a pint for £10 and I thoroughly enjoyed the taste as well as the price. I fancied a little something extra and, although it wasn't on the menu I was served a nice crumble. There is a dining area, and an outdoor area and three distinct rooms. The atmosphere and the staff are really friendly. They have board games available. This is the perfect place for a casual drink on a Friday night especially if you still want to talk to the people...

This Castle Rock pub is great. Lots of space and lots of outdoor space some of which is covered for rainy days or shade for sunny days. We went with friends for a Sunday roast. Food took quite a while to come but when it did we totally forgot about that. It was amazing and huge! Good value for money. There were so many different veggies, roast carrots and potatoes, mash, green beans, broccoli, red cabbage and then a huge piece of stuffing, Yorkie and the meat. And one of us had the veggie option which looked good. My husband made the comment that he’d have liked it on a bigger plate but then we decided that we actually liked it all piled up as you kept getting surprises as you went down through it and the food stayed hotter. The beers at this pub are brilliant. They have a huge range of craft beers, real ales and more. We sat in the conservatory to eat then moved outside for a final drink in very slightly cooler air. The staff...

Cracking pub, easily my favourite during our recent stay for a few days in Nottingham. The building is superb, with the internals furnished and decorated really well and done so in the spirit of the building's origins. It has an interesting history worth reading up on. There are plenty of seating areas all with their own character, it is like a Tardis as keep finding more areas and nooks. Great range of beers on keg and cask, and a well stocked fridge with a decent discount if taking them away - I grabbed a couple. Staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and clearly have a passion for the beer they are serving. If we go back to Nottingham, this will be a must visit for us. We didn't eat here so can't comment on food, so regard the 5 stars for food as for drink instead! p.s. I will let you know how good the Vault City Creme is once I've drunk it!!

I am bound to be bias as my wife and I had our wedding here which was obviously the 2nd best day in both our lives (so far) However we have always had great service the regular food is awesome and one of the many reasons we love going. This also benefits from being like all the other Castle Rocks in Nottingham in that it serves a large variety of different draught. It is stupidly busy on Forest match days but don't let the que for the bar put you off the staff know exactly what they are doing and you can been seen too in a matter of minutes. The great outdoor seating means the pub is perfect no matter the season. The building is also an old Boots Pharamacy (hence the decor) so if you haven't been go I've attached some photos of the wedding day incase any of you are looking at this review are considering it as a location for your function.
