Baa Bar — Restaurant in Nottingham

NOT QUEERSAFE at Bar Bar Told security I was being harassed because I’m visibly gay (I dress bright, I’m flamboyant, it’s not hard to miss). I’d moved from the bar to the dance floor with my two friends, hand in hand, while I followed just behind. A group of lads let them through without issue but kept physically shoving me back — hand to chest, pushing me away like I didn’t belong.

When I reported this to the bouncer, he brushed me off and told me to “stay back.” In other words: stay away from my own friends. I explained that while the lads hadn’t yelled slurs, it was clearly homophobia driving the whole thing. His response? Just “ignore it.”

Later, in the smoking area, I ran into another friend who went back in with me. Without my knowledge, she swilled the guy who’d been targeting me. He immediately turned his aggression on me, and I ended up in a scrap I never wanted — leaving with a full-on black eye that wrecked my week. All because some insecure homophobe needed to flex his fragile ego, while security stood by and did nothing.

Queer people deserve to feel safe in nightlife spaces — not shoved aside, ignored, and left to fend for themselves. If a bar can’t guarantee that, then it doesn’t deserve our custom, our trust, or...

Absolutely DISGUSTED with the way the bouncers treated my partner. Everyone he was with was let in however he was told to stand to the side for no reason after showing ID. It’s blatantly obvious the that bouncers are racist as he is only person of mixed race ethnicity that was entering at the time. The bouncers couldn’t give him a reason as to why he wasn’t allowed in which makes it all the more obvious. This place should be shut down & after reading other reviews it’s clearly the revolting choice in bouncers that is letting this place down.

My partner was not refused on Sunday 5th of January so this information is irrelevant to what happened within the incident. If I could rate this with negative stars, I would. Friday 4th March 1130pm I was refused entry for no reason. The laughable door men just said "not tonight" and would not give me a reason. I was not drunk and do not do drugs, they just arrogantly looked at me and said "they do not have to give a reason!!!" After repeatedly asking why I was not allowed in, they still would not give a reason so I presume they are profiling the customers and get a power trip every time they refuse entry to the place. Judging by the reviews here, I assume they have a stake in the place, otherwise they should have been sacked long ago as it seems to be a regular occurrence from these two, shocking behaviour towards someone who wanted to spend money in there.
