Good experience let down at the end by poor service. If you'd like to know more, read on (warning, long review). We were given a gift card for this visit. We were a bit nervous about using it, so we checked with the staff member who greeted us that we could use it, he said yes. The restaurant itself was really nice. It was a hot day and they had opened the windows onto the street - it was like being on holiday! The menu was a bit intimidating, we didn't know what anything was, but the staff did a great job of talking it through. We chose a starter and main each, and ordered drinks. I had an apple, lime and mint juice and it was gorgeous! The starters came, my veggie rolls looked and tasted great, particularly the peanut dip. My freind ordered pancake, we were warned by the server that it was intended for sharing, so we decided to share both. The pancake was more like an omelet in looks and taste, and it was basically beansprouts and prawns... lots and lots of beansprouts! We both dug in but I can't say I really enjoyed it. The veggie rolls were a lot nicer. I tried the pho for my main, this was like a noodle broth. I ordered the crab version, I love crab. There were some floating bread-like lumps that may or may not have contained crab - perhaps this is my ignorance of foreign cuisine but the were pretty tasteless. Half way through I was struggling and felt a bit sick. I wouldn't order this again. My freind ordered a noodle dish. When I arrived it looked almost identical to the beansprout pancakes! Luckily they really enjoyed it. Up to this point I would probably have given it 4 stars, but then the service took a nosedive. When the server cleaered our plates and asked if we would like desert, we said no thank you and assumed the bill would follow. We waited about 10 minutes before we had to flag someone down to ask for the bill. The bill was bought to our table and abandoned. A 12.5% service charge had been added - i find this quite sneaky but was initially willing to pay, given that we had a gift voucher to cover most of the cost. We waited another 5 minutes and flagged down a server again and asked to pay. They came back 5 minutes later and we presented our gift voucher. He said he would get his manager to process this. Another 5 minutes passed and by now, we were getting frustrated with how long this was taking. The manager informed us that we couldn't use the gift voucher as it had already been used. Now given that this was a gift and we have never eaten at Pho before, we told him this must be a mistake. He said it wasn't, but I requested he check again. He came back (another 5 minutes) said nothing but left the amended bill on our table - no apology for embarrassing us, although I noted the service charge had been removed so perhaps he felt embarrassed too. Unbelievably he didn't wait around for us to pay the remaining bill and once again, it took us yet another 5 minutes to flag someone down and we finally left, 40 minutes after finishing our meal and rather stressed! We had to go for a drink elsewhere to get over the experience! We had initially said we would come back next time we had an opportunity. Unfortunately, we won't be returning to Pho based on the negative experience if simply settling the bill.

Excellent meal, really enjoyed it. I had pho regularly when I was in Vietnam and although this was good it was a Anglicised version but still ok. Curry was superb, I really enjoyed it,and my wife’s noodles were good also. Service was excellent. So why the 1 star review? A 12.5% service charge was automatically added to the meal, despite not being listed on the menu (is this legal?) You have to pay by card (no problem) and are given a card machine which asks if you want the service charge removing? You have to ask the server, who has just given you great service, to remove this - this is very embarrassing and should not be the case. I feel like I crap and no doubt so does the waiter - however I live in UK and will not let restaurants try to turn us into America by trying to get us to pay extra to their staff. If you think the staff are worth more, give them a rise not rely on customers to leave money, which I doubt will reach the staff and will just swell the profits of the business. After I asked to have this removed the card machine was handed back and the first thing it says in big buttons is do I want to leave a tip and 10% and 15% buttons! I left a tip for the waiter on the table, but all of the goodwill and love for this restaurant is gone and if I had known they would have tried this emotional manipulation I would not have eaten here. I obviously will not return until this policy is changed.

My daughter (9) choose this restaurant as a treat before we went to a concert, at first I was I bit worried but very surprised, once in we were greeted by lovely staff members whom said hello and directed us to the table, then we viewed the menu as it was own first time I was completely overwhelmed and unsure what anything was but the lovely male staff explained every question I had clearly, which was perfect! The food was absolutely incredible I’ve never ever tasted anything so amazing, the flavours and smells were just 100%! The kids meal was gorgeous to a very good size (she couldn’t eat it all) we also had chicken wings starter I wouldn’t recommend these very salty and hardly any meat on them, however the whole experience was top from start to finish, the price was very reasonable too! Only 30 something pound for two meals and starter and a drinks. The atmosphere was beautifully done, clean loos and the kitchen was open and looked well looked after, we be coming again even though we’re all the way in Derby!

The lady who was wearing pink sweater working on the 20/5/2024 was really rude. Worst customer service ever. We were at the door, trying to call her multiple times but she ignored, typing on her computer. I have to go inside the place and she was making rude face when she was about to sit us. And then she proceeded to ignore us again typing on the computer when we raise our hands to order but she didn’t look and we said hello and she didn’t hear it, waited for quite some time and we don’t want to be inhumane to shout at her or anything so ended up having to stand up and go to her ourselves to order. Same thing again happen third time and she still ignored us and everytime we had an encounter, she will make a rude facial expression.

I have been advised to delete this section by the manager since they have reassured that it is not the case as they will ensure that all concerns will be addressed appropriately. My friends were trying to prevent me from telling her off as we are worried that our food will be affected. As you know the saying goes, “dont mess with the people who serves your food”, this is like the only channel for my complaints.

We ate there at around 4.30pm where there are not so many people and not that busy, so no excuse to ignore customers. Worst thing is, she treated all the other customers fine and making friendly faces as all of my group keep observing her throughout our time there. FYI, we were the only asians there at that time. Its just totally hideous. We opted out of paying service charge, and I think everyone else should too if you are treated...

Took my partner here for Valentines day and was greeted by Antony who promptly found us a table, the atmosphere was cosy, warm and nicely social, ant took us through the menue and dietary requirements which is perfe t for my partner who is a coeliac (so difficult to find a glutenfree place and this place is a must with a 98% gluten free menue)

Frank was fantastic, took our order and really took care in socialising and very attentive to our lack of social skills, the food portions are huge! Started with wings, my partner had the curry noodle soup and myself the wok fried beef noodles. The flavour was to die for! And service was timed perfectly, other tables around us were seen too and cleaned down and no one was seen waiting. Rohan did a great job awith waiting on us and service our drinks and had great knowledge, he's not been there long but really knew his stuff, Freddie made my partner a cocktail and swapped out the apple juice for pineapple on request and honestly they made havan club a worth while rum.

Sophie, Beth Csilla were great and let us take what we could eat home in nice the away containers.

We would definitely come here again. And look forward to sample more on the menue, great value huge portions and a great playlist too for the time in the evening. A real gem of a cafe restaurant in Nottingham.

We stayed talking until close because time just flew by thank you all for a lovely evening :)...
