Fantastic to see great effort put I to the vegetarian and vegan options. So much choice, seitan on the menu too which was nice to see I like mine a little tougher so might have needed some battering before the first boil, but I was absolutely thrilled to be able to order it. It was good. The veg was lovely and so was the Yorkie and gravy. Toilets are frankly the worst I've seen in some time. Hot tap completely destroyed, facilities a bit rank to be honest. Service was generally okay, first chap we said hello to was really nice, fella who brought our food order was decent too. Bar staff were unengaged and didn't really seem to care about anything but the basics of why they were there which is a shame. It didn't feel very welcoming. DJ was a nice touch, the soul and soft disco played was really nice. Sort the toilets and the customer experience side of things and this place would be incredible.

We held our Nottingham tour leg at the Chapel in the Angel Mircobrewery, and had a fantastic time. The Chapel is a beautiful room, intimate and allows for a wonderful connection between crowd and artist. Harley and the team were professional, contactable and really helpful both during the booking process and on the day of the show. Parking was handy with nearby street parking and access to the stage via a set of stairs out the back saved going through the pub with all the gear. I can't recommend this venue enough, as a touring artist, and also as a gig goer - they have brilliant artists on and take care to make sure that the nights are top. Thank you from me and the team x

We ordered food that took an hour to come out and everything was COLD even the gravy!!! Very disappointed, wouldn’t recommend for food (Fish&chips, lamb pie and roast with all the trimmings). Overheard other tables say they had been waiting a while as well. We asked where the food was and they said just plating it all up - but then they couldn’t bring out all the dishes together as it wasn’t ready. The food tasted like it had potential to be nice but as it was cold it turned the whole experience into a bad one. Not the cleanest place either. No comments on the drinks - seems like an average pub if you’re just coming for drinks

I visited The Angel (14/10/20) with the vision of having some vegan food in a friendly, welcoming and chilled environment with my daughter. Upon entering I was very abruptly and rudely told I “had to put a mask on” I informed the member of staff I am ‘medically exempt’ to which I was informed the only way I could enter the establishment to eat is if I had a card stating I was exempt and was to wear it through my visit!?! In a bid to defend my right as a disabled person who for medical reasons can’t where a mask, i entered in to a debate with a hostile and ignorant member of staff, who in front of costumers, insensitivity asked me to state what my medical condition is that prevents me from wearing a mask and numerous times stated I either had to present and wear a card saying I am disabled/exempt or wear a mask. When I entered The Angel the said member of staff was using a laptop at a table, I kindly asked her check the gov.uk website with reguards the polices/rules around mask a wearing, to which she declined stating she was already familiar with it and continued to state numerous inaccuracies: “there is an application form to apply for an exception card on the gov.uk website” (incorrect) and I have to state my disability, presumably so the doctor/barista can ratify that the disability qualifies exemptment (obviously again incorrect )

I appreciate these are very challenging times, the advice the government is giving changes daily and it’s hard to keep up, I also appreciate that it’s a scary time, and people want this all to end and life to return to what was normal pre covid and for some people its frustrating that some individuals don’t wear masks (some maybe even flouting the rules, I except that) but no one has the right to challenge an individual with such ferocity and tenacity, that basically translates as “I don’t believe a word your saying”

The staff at The Angel are evidently not trained in disability awareness, and don’t exercise inclusiveness or empathy and exhibit prejudicial and tyrannical traits.

I left feeling very incredible frustrated, angry, powerless, incredibly embarrassed and with my dignity stripped from me in front of my 10 year old daughter and humiliated in front of costumers. An absolutely horrendous experience, that’s left me feeling confused and apprehensive about visiting other places (without a mask, as unfortunately is the case for me)

THE FOLLOWING EXTRACT IS COPY AND PASTED DIRECTLY FROM THE GOV.UK WEBSITE; I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU FAMILIARISE YOURSELVES WITH THE FACTS:

“Those who have an age, health or disability reason for not wearing a face covering should not be routinely asked to give any written evidence of this, this includes exemption cards. No person needs to seek advice or request a letter from a medical professional about their reason for not wearing a face covering.

Some people may feel more comfortable showing something that says they do not have to wear a face covering. This could be in the form of an exemption card, badge or even a home-made sign.

This is a personal choice and is not...

My colleagues and I went for farewell lunch here but I found a piece of black hair in my vegan cottage pie. I alerted the waitress who was serving and she referred me to the supervisor Andrew. He offered to give me a free drink as compensation but my colleagues and I were leaving and requested for a partial refund. He refused bluntly and said he was only willing to offer a drink. Andrew refused to give his surname and when asked couldn't give an explanation as to why he couldn't offer a partial refund. I felt that he was very rude and dismissive in answering our questions and did not apologise at all for the poor service and food.

Furthermore, he refused to accept this could have come from a member of staff, however as we were sat next to the open kitchen, we pointed out a member of staff who had medium length, dark brown hair. As I’m sure you will agree, it is not acceptable to find human hair in food that is served to customers. This was further compounded by the curt and unfriendly manner of Andrew (the supervisor). What was meant to be a nice, farewell meal resulted in an undesirable and upsetting experience. I was particularly aggrieved by the manner of Andrew who made us feel that we were at fault. I am afraid to say that neither myself, not my colleagues can recommend this pub to our organisation and friends. I have informed Trading Standards at Nottingham City Council, who will be investigating this matter further. Please note the purpose of raising this complaint is due to the exceptionally poor level of service rather than financial...

I was very excited to visit for the first time today with some friends from abroad. We came in for some Sunday dinner. Unfortunately, the experience did not quite meet our expectations which is a shame because the place has a huge potential. We had a reservation and were shown to the table without any explanation about ordering. After a little wait we decided to find out where we can get the menus and were directed to the bar without any further comment. We sat down and decided on what to have waiting for a waitress to take the order. She passed us a few times but seemed to be avoiding any eye contact so we thought she was busy and waited further. After a while I went to ask where we should order and were directed to the bar again. It would be nice if there was any sign or if the waitress informed us on the begining because it would save us the awkward wait. We received the dinners after a long but not excessive wait and were asked if we would like any sauces. I asked for two and started eating. All of the dinners were luke warm at best and the beef was pretty tough. Nice portion of meat/seitan but a really small portion of potatoes and the rest. Unfortunately, the waitress did never come back with the sauces and did not interact with us any more at all. We left disappointed especially that the food has a huge potential and the vegan options are amazing! I love the overall vibe of the place as well and I would love to come back but this experience was really disappointing. I am giving 3 stars hoping that it must have been an unlucky...
