The reviews are not very good, both in terms of service and food. As it was not time for lunch to start at 12:00 when we arrived, the guy at the door told us that we could go in and sit until 12:00 when a waiter would come to take our order. In fact, between the time we sat down and 12pm, even though we told the waitress that we were waiting for lunch, not drinks or dessert, she continued to ask if we wanted to order. Afterwards, when it was time to order the whole thing, the waitress asked the next tables if they had any allergens, but did not ask us. Nor did anyone ask us if we needed any help during our wait. When the food was served, the table next door all had a spice basket which was not served to us and left quickly afterwards. We hoped that she would explain to us how to use the pho ingredients and did not find the opportunity to do so. After this, no one asked if we needed help, everyone seemed to be shuttling back and forth and seemed to be minding their own business. It wasn't until we finished our meal that the lady who had started the order came to ask if we were happy and we asked her to call management to reflect on the problem, and her attitude could be felt to have subtly changed for the better (although the problem wasn't just with the waiter). The food was really bad, from the taste to the hygiene it didn't quite match the reviews I'd read online. The vermicelli was fine and moderate, but the baskets we ordered for two to share was very problematic. One of the meat skewers was burnt and sweet with a bitter taste from the grill, a prawn pancake tasted like flour in my mouth and had unidentified threads in it, although the manager explained it to us, I found that explanation far-fetched. The other snacks were on the sweet side, so I am not used to them and will not comment on them. Hygiene issues were very bad. In addition to the unidentified threads in the food as mentioned before, the bamboo steamer had obvious signs of mould and there were many thin elastic threads on the sides of the steamer, which were suspected to be glue stripped from the adhesive. The pancake leaves were blackened, not sure if this was caused by the use of dried leaves or by repeated use. manager eventually refunded our bill for the pancake with the unidentified threads in the middle, but overall, it was not worth the £30+ price tag. Also, although the manager was very nice in explaining to us, even though I could hear she was passing the buck, I didn't give the restaurant one star given that she was really patient and refunded the money for the service charge and the faulty meal. On the other hand, I hope the service in the future will be worth the 10% service charge that they impose, rather than ruining one's good mood for the day...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Cafe Coco Tang in Nottingham, and I must say, it was a delightful experience! I was captivated by the charming and cozy ambiance. The fusion of modern and traditional elements in the decor created a unique and inviting atmosphere.
The staff at Cafe Coco Tang were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They greeted me with genuine smiles and made sure I felt comfortable throughout my visit. Their excellent service added to the overall positive impression of the cafe.
Now, the food and drinks – they were fantastic! The menu offered a wide variety of options, from Vietnamese-inspired dishes to delicious pastries and desserts. I couldn't resist trying their signature Vietnamese coffee, and it was a real treat. The flavors were rich and aromatic, leaving me wanting more.
One thing that stood out to me was the attention to detail in every aspect of the cafe. From the beautifully presented dishes to the carefully crafted drinks, it was evident that the team at Cafe Coco Tang takes pride in their work. If you like coffee they have their own roasting machine which is on full display and very fascinating to look at.
The ambiance was complemented by the soothing background music that enhanced the overall experience. It was a great place to relax, catch up with friends, or even spend some quiet time alone.
I also appreciated the cafe's commitment to sustainability, as they used eco-friendly packaging and reusable cups, which made me feel good about supporting a business that cares about the environment.
All in all, Cafe Coco Tang is a hidden gem in Nottingham, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and enjoyable cafe experience. The combination of friendly staff, delicious food, and the charming atmosphere makes it a must-visit spot in the city. I will definitely be returning to explore more of their menu and savor their...
Read moreDisappointed with our visit here as had high expectations. The food and drinks look good but unfortunately we’re generally quite bland, very average tasting L, at best and overpriced. My beef broth was extremely bland and for some reason the lime wedges and bean shoots were served separately. I guess this maybe adds a little interest to the look but the beef tasted as though it had been boiled in plain water and the broth, while advertised as having been stewed for multiple hours, was a major disappointment, more like a stock cube for 5 minutes. The stuffed squid was a bit more flavoursome but not that special and the veggie rice vermicelli hardly had any veg at first though this was rectified after some reluctance. Initially we were give an outside table in direct sun and although there were awnings above, the staff said they couldn’t draw them as it may upset other customers. So why they were here, if not to shade the sun, I don’t know. While I understand this is a trendy themed restaurant and why people may like to come here, you’d expect to at least have a decent seat to sit on instead of a stool or if you’re lucky, a bench with small cushioned back rest. Annoyingly the main courses arrived before the starters too, the. 2 minutes later all the mains arrived, so very cramped on the small table we had. Overall, I personally think if you eat out to enjoy great food, then this ISN’T the place for you. If you like somewhere that’s a bit trendy and not too fussed how the food tastes or what you pay for it then you may...
