Tried to book in for a group of about 15. I asked if we could have the menú del dia offer at £18.50. Really looking forward to it as we came last year as a department and I also came recently with my sister. Loved the atmosphere, loved the food, great service... I even did a post on Instagram and shared it with local pages. So I thought it would be a perfect place for another works meal. The first message I got was "we suggest you order from our party menu". The party menu is quite limited. And it costs £29.95! They also asked for a £10 deposit (i do understand this). Myself and my colleagues just wanted a nice get together, we didn't want to pay £30 each + service charge. They told me menu del dia is for up to 7 people. This is not mentioned anywhere. I said I'm happy to split the tables. Maybe 2/3 tables. They responded saying that we would slow down the service for other customers making out we would be a huge inconvenience. They did everything they could to not book us in. Everything was an issue. They also said if you split tables, the food wouldn't come out at the same time and it would be 80 dishes to serve. Well it wouldn't be because it's 14 people, not 20 (they didn't get back to me regarding final numbers). I said we could split tables and said we really don't mind that food would be sent out at different times as it is a tapas restaurant. I've had no reply for 5 days. They don't want groups unless you pay £30 each. They can't force people to have the £30 menu. I was even going to say I could pre order everything. They decided to serve tapas but make it a huge inconvenience if you try and book. The same thing happened to another head of department who tried to book a few years ago. Do not book here if there are more than 7 of you. A huge shame as my department loved this place. I will never go again. We have...

Went with my boyfriend, we often try to go out once a month together, so booked a table on a Friday night and asked for a table out of the way. We arrived and were seated in the middle of the glass window display in the middle of the room where we Kept getting moved around by other customers, this wew to make to the restaurant look busy, we take didn't appreciate this as we'd asked to be seated out the way of traffic (serving food, people coming and going) The restaurant was empty, they completely tried to use us to make it look busier than it was, so we moved to a two seater table out the way, when asked to why we moved we explained we'd booked a table for a quiet evening, in which she said you can't sit anywhere you have to sit where we say, so we opted to leave and go somewhere else (when paying over£60 for a meal and have booked a table) so she started to shout in our faces why we didn't want to stay, it became so uncomfortable trying to explain we didn't want to sit in the middle of the room when the restaurant was empty, she just laughed and shouted more. The staff are so rude and have no appreciation that we booked a table more private, loads of tables available, but wouldn't allow us to move, won't be returning, and we aren't there to sit in front display to Make your restaurant look busy.

This was after trying once before and being treated badly the first time, but thought we give it another go, don't be...

We were seated under open stairs to bathroom. I felt like dust was dropping on the table. Very unhygienic placement. Bathrooms smelt of piss badly. This is not acceptable. I ordered a tropical drink of the day, so my friend did too. Drinks were spread unevenly. His was full, mine had a gap and if I taken all that crushed ice from my drink, theres only 125ml of my drink left. Drink was delicious. Sadly very little of it for the price I paid. We've ordered starters and few tapas. Flatbread and dips were great. Really tasty. Moving to tapas. Salmon, chicken screwers and quinoa salad were great. However fries with parmesan were just dry and hard, I was also very disappointed with crispy beef. I expected it to be crispy but not literally just hard crispy, oversalted pieces of something that somehow still tasted of beef. My friend ate it as she was hungry but she didn't like that too much either. Her patatas bravas were just dry deep fried potato cubes with a bit of mayo and salsa squirted on. Waitresses were great. Service was great. No doubt in that. Fries were taken off my bill. Thank goodness for that. Verdict: 🤮 bathroom 🤮 placement of our table 😒 dry hard chips 😤 wished my drink was actually full 👎pricey for what it is.

I will not give this place a second try.

If you pass next to this place...walk few steps down to Coco Tang instead which serves delicious food that is...

A little taste of Barcelona in Nottingham. Just up from the original Paul Smith shop. Having lived and worked in Spain for several years, Spanish, tapas style of dining is one of our favourites. With all the new openings in Nottingham recently, we decided to stick to somewhere that's been established for just over 10 years. Where we know the food will be good. As it was lunchtime,we could order from their Menu del dia.Which is also the best value option when eating out in Espana,as most restaurants offer one. Here it is priced at £18.50. Which offers a choice of Catalan bread or Gordal olives.Plus two tapas and one side. Our choices were:- Garlic & chilli prawns lemon, parsley, guindilla. Crispy fried squid in a light coating of cumin, turmeric & paprika flour, lemon aïoli. Salmon`'tikka' red mojo marinated salmon fillet, Bombay potato, curried mayonnaise. Cod tacos freshly crumbed cod fillet, kimchi cabbage, lemon aïoli, pickled red onion, £2.50pp supplement. Sides. Catalan broccoli, grilled tenderstem with romesco sauce, toasted almonds. Patatas bravas, spiced tomato & red pepper sauce, confit garlic aïoli. To finish, coffee & churros for just £4.95. The food did not disappoint. It was all cooked fresh to order. Every dish was delicious and portion sizes were very generous for the price point. Service was friendly and not rushed, which made for a very enjoyable lunchtime treat.

THE #️⃣1️⃣ restaurant I’ve ever been to! 🏆 @barescatapas in Nottingham was a absolute treat and I definitely *definitely* will be returning! 1️⃣ peshwari flatbread with almonds, raisins, honey, coriander and chillies - the best combination of sweet and spicy! 🌶 2️⃣ sweetcorn and black bean empanadas - soft and crunchy with a good amount of filling 🌽 3️⃣ salmon tikka - soft, tasty and fell apart in my mouth…the show stopper 🤩 4️⃣ garlic and chilli prawns with lemon and parsley 🍤 5️⃣ pork belly tacos with kimchi cabbage and lime mayo 🌮 6️⃣ Mac & cheese with ham and broccoli🍝 7️⃣ lychee-colada 🍹 The staff and service were really nice and quick, the interior was modern and lively and overal a really good experience for tapas 🇪🇸 #baresca #nottingham #restaurant #foodblogger #foodlover #leicester #foodie #instafood #myleicester #foodmoodsonia

Loved the food it was all amazing! So much to choose from on the menu, we could have ordered it all. Definitely could do with a few more gluten and lacto free options but they did swap the bread for their amazing olives which I was very happy with!! We went with the lunch offer. The ribs were the most amazing, just fell off the bone. The halloumi fritters were soooo good! My friend said the starter flat bread was lovely. The terriyaki beef empanadillas were sweet and tasty. The garlic & prawns didn't seem cooked and weren't that tasty and I normally love prawns. The white wine Sangria cocktail we had was absolutely delicious!! The house white wine was very nice and the staff were all very helpful polite and friendly. Service was a little slow but we were taking our time so it wasn't as issue for us. Will certainly go back.
